heading up to Arkansas (from austin) via Dallas..

Riding a GS; Not familiar with the area.. Recommended roads, lodging, etc..

Well you didn't really give us much to work from - the number of days you plan to spend will greatly affect the ride/route advice you'll get back.

This subject has been covered extensively in the past too - this year in fact so a search might give you some help in the meantime.

Basically, go north of I-40 and you won't be sorry.
 
I recently spent a week there. My trip report has links to maps - great roads.

Also, on AR-341, Push Mountain Road, is Arkansas’ answer to The Tail of the Dragon – but it’s more fun for most of us because it doesn’t have any first gear hairpins. There’s a fella taking pix on this road – same as on the Dragon - www.pushmountainpics.com. He is willing to offer advice on what roads to hit in that part of the state.
