Route Advice - DFW to Austin, East of I-35

I've pretty well explored the routes between DFW and Austin to the west of I-35... heading down there again in mid-August, and I'm thinking I might try a route that stays east of 35 this time. Anything fun or scenic over there? Suggestions on a fun route down? Or would I be better served by sticking to the FMs I've already ridden on the west side?

Most of the roads east of I35 are pretty flat and straight from what i've experienced. You can make good time though. Not near the scenery that way compared to west of i35. I took 16 back from dfw last time i was there and was not disappointed.
