With the recent discussion taking place on exposure, I remembered I bracketed the Bee County courthouse this past weekend on a shot of an A4. All were done with a Nikon D40x and 18-200VR lens. Each shot was f11 with an ISO of 200 in Aperature mode. The only differences were the shutter speeds (camera generated) and exposure control I manually plugged in (one stop underexposed, neutral, one stop overexposed).

Here they are for comparison (l to r) -1.0 stop / no compensation / +1.0 stop.

This might not be the greatest example of how exposure compensation works as there's a lot of sky that was metered. However, you get the jist of what the compensation does. So I'd probably reverse my earlier comment and say TM's shot was overexposed maybe .7 or .3 stop. Again, most probably due to a large amount of blue water being tossed into the equation. IIRC, TM's also shooting a Nikon D40 setup.

exactly, the longer the exposure, the more light hits the film or digital lens (the brighter the pic)
the term applies the same for film and digital photography
