The time available to post up your pictures is narrowing. If you're still looking for subjects I'm sure there are plenty available. At least down here in Houston there are some pretty cool cloud formations. Might make for great sunset shots.
And remember... not all of nature is "pretty". As we were headed back from the RTE yesterday there were several buzzards feeding on a deer who must've been unlucky enough to not look both ways before crossing the road. The thought went through my head that things like that aren't what we typically think of when we first hear the nature theme, but even the "gross" things can still be awe inspiring and powerful.

Okay... Now onto the most difficult part of the whole process!
Picking a winner. But first, comments on all the photos. In no real rational order, just typing as the comments come to mind.
StarWatcher: This photo made me laugh. Was the squirrel really just hanging out there? Definitely shows that nature is sometimes a bit quirky and amusing.
Janet: I like this photo. The washing out of the sky was a little distracting for me though. The tree made me think about it for awhile. Wondering what happened to it and how it ended up there having seen better days.
Voni: I like this photo too. It’s very calming and makes me think of a nice summer evening. Where was this shot?
poser: Those dogs have moved right on into your house haven’t they? They certainly look comfortable and good job stretching the definition of the theme. Early on it was stated that nature was different things to different people. The picture definitely talks to me. I can see both dogs thinking “who is this guy and why does he insist on taking our picture? Photo shoots weren’t mentioned in the brochure for this vacation condo.”
Jimbo: Looking at this picture makes me wonder how long you had to stalk the little guy to snap a shot. I like the layout of the shot, I just wish it had a little more contrasting colors.
Tracker: Following some of the comments on the other thread, I too don’t care much for the fuzziness of the picture. However I love the concept. My mind does fill in the fact that it’s a flower immediately and I like that.
Ed29: Same comment about the fuzziness. Glad you entered it though. Goes to show that sometimes it might not be the shot we want, but it’s still a good shot. I do have to mention though that part of my issue with this photo has nothing to do with you or your photography skills. I’m biased. I grew up in the central valley of California and when I think deer I think wooded mountain areas. I’ve lived in Texas almost 6 years (and I’ve grown to like it a lot) but this scene still doesn’t “jive” in my head. Sorry.
M38A1: Unfortunately, you too fell victim to my mental bias… For you see, I am terrified of frogs and toads. I realize it is an irrational fear, and it’s nothing you could’ve known but it all stems back to being 5 and my dad forcing me to walk across a drive way filled with young amphibians. Even as I type this I cringe a bit recalling the squishing, sliding and just plane grossness! :Shudder: You’ll be happy to know that I did force myself to look at the photo and the quality is grand. Given another subject matter, well, the outcome could’ve been different.
CBAT: Good quality on the photo. I liked all of the parts but for some reason it just didn’t keep my interest. Possibly this pic might’ve benefited from having a man made object of some sort in it to give a sense of power.
And last but not least. The winner is…..
Tim: Great job for a first entry! Something about it keeps pulling me back into the photo. Maybe it’s the light or the little bit of dirt on the top of the closest mushroom. Not sure what it is – but I like it! Congrats!!!
All in all – great photos. I’m glad that so many people decided to post up. I feel like I’ve learned just a little bit more about each of you through this assignment. I’ve met a few of you in person and hope to catch the rest of you sometime soon at a Pie Run or RTE.
Thanks for listening to my 2 cents, unqualified opinion.

There are some really cool, top-notch photos in this edition. Thanks for picking mine. I'll select an assignment subject for the next contest and post a preliminary thread in just a bit.

Hmmm..... After review at urbandictionary, I must admit I was unaware of the most popular use of that phrase. I was thinking their number two, three and four version for its use. Guess I won't be gettin' that letter afterall.... :-P

I confused the crap outta my wife, who was unaware of the TWT photo contests, when we found those mushrooms. Instantly thinking of this thread, I blurted out, "Hey, that's nature!"
To which my wife replied, "You don't say. Of course it's nature!"

.
Port Hood, on the way to the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. People drive from miles away to take pictures of that sunset.
I've really enjoyed All of the submissions and am glad to see new faces too!
