Definitely possibly maybe and what's more, really do plan to be there.
When the time comes to saddle up, it will depend on too many factors to list, but most of the time most of the factors don't come into play.
Not sure if I just said I'd be there or not, so for clarity let's just say "I'm definitely planning to be there." :lol2:
Oh, by the way...there's no "I-45E"
You must be thinking of I-35 which does indeed have an "E" and a "W" designation when it splits to go through both Dallas and Fort Worth without losing its identity.
that's close to Waco, i'm in
fyi DPS has a big office in Fairfield, and a speed trap in Teague Us 84

That came from the address on their web site - it this case the "E" means the east side of the highway. Click on the map link and you will see the "I-45 E" as well... :zen:
I don't know why it isn't I-45 N (for northbound) 'cause it is confusing. :loco:

Well, we usually do lunch as well with pie afterward (OK, some get their pie first  ). With a ride there and back, that usually does it for most of us.

I probably missed the earlier info but where does the ride go? I assume it begins in Fairfield. At Sam's. And ends back there?
p.s. I helped build what was Sam's Motel back in 1978, working for Nash Construction out of Huntsville. Since then I have found a more disreputable occupation, associating with the likes of John Wilson, Jeff Taylor, and Harold Richmond. lol

Actually, the destination is the restaurant - folks will come from whereever they are at, plan routes, meet up for lunch and pie, and then ride home. It's the standard RTE (Ride to Eat). Most of the planning is done by individual riders and maybe some groups from the bigger areas like DFW, Austin, and Houston. Check out some of the Pie Run ride reports for the general idea. Also see this definition (http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36546).

They used to have buttermilk pie but they had too much left over at the end of the day so they quit making it. Not enough people ate it. I asked. :tears:

I am going to propose an "after Pie Run" destination:
His place of employment, Family Powersports, is putting together a benefit for Zac on Aug. 29 (Sat.) from 11-3. There is to be food, entertainment, and stickers/bracelets with Zac's racing# on them. Their address is 1811 Fort Worth Hwy. Weatherford, TX 76086
If you hadn't read the story on racer Zac Chapman (http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42063).

It's short, 100 miles, I expect we'll be there before 11:00 unless we start late, or dawdle along the way.
And, here's what I have so far for return:
http://tinyurl.com/lkmx22
Depending on when we leave Fairfield, and how many people are with us, it might be just right, or it could be too long, but there are plenty short cuts. Breakup is the Dairy Queen in Farmersville, sort of equidistant to home for everyone, but that can change, too.

I haven't seen an email yet - is the gun show at Amon Carter or downtown?

amon exhibit hall. I have never been there.
They have the shows there often. It is a bit west of downtown, north of I30 off Montgomery street. Parking is a bit of a problem since they have construction at the museum across the parking lot.
If you can get away from lunch and pie by 1:00 or so, you should be able to make the show by 3 and have a couple of hours before it closes.
I think I'm a probable for this one. I LOVE PIE!

And, here's what I have so far for return:

Depending on when we leave Fairfield, and how many people are with us, it might be just right, or it could be too long, but there are plenty short cuts. Breakup is the Dairy Queen in Farmersville, sort of equidistant to home for everyone, but that can change, too.
Sounds like a good route. I would love to meet up with you guys in Forney. Did I mention that I love PIE?!:eat:

Once you take out all the cops, EMTs, CHL folks, libertarians, nerds, bbq chefs, rocket scientist, lawyers, and other folks who never drink and ride, it's a pretty calm group. :thumb:
You can use old pie run post and pics in the storytelling section to show him this could be the most tame biker group ever to come together for lunch. The biggest ruckus will be over whose in line first for some chow. :eat3:

A little word to the wise about eating at Sams. As soon as they give you a table, go check-out, and get what you want (desserts wise), before you eat. The pecan pie goes fast, as some other pies do too. If what you want isn't there (before you eat), it might be there later. Hardy

Meet-up at Valero in Forney on Pinson at Hwy 80. It's a Fina in the streetview below, but it's Valero now. Address 900 Pinson is what I had to use to get streetview to cooperate. It's on Pinson a short block north of Hwy 80. You can see it from the Shell station on the south side of 80.

This is a short 100 miles down there, leaving 8:30 we can stop along the way and still get there by 11:00.

The end on this route isn't really the restaurant, it just ends in Fairfield, I had an argument with Google Maps. But, I have Sams in my GPS, so we can't get lost :-) :-) :-)
The route back is 260 miles, designed as a normal afternoon return. If we stay late for lunch, or whatever, there are lots of short cut opportunities, including if we were to really stay late we could just come back the way we went.

If I don't show by 8:30, its because I slept in and am just going to subject myself to a hard run down the slab.

turns out I'm out. Didn't realize how paranoid my husband is about meeting up with people we've never met over the internet
Hopefully I can get him out with me to some other DFW TWT events so he'll mellow out for some other pie run someday
show up with out him ,if that is the same bike that belong to another twt member then it hasn't missed very many pie runs

This MIGHT be the first time anyone has decided they'd rather go to their own wedding than a TWT pie run. It's certainly the first I remember.
I actually rode for pie in May, then continued on to my daughter's wedding in Dallas. (Sorta cool! They were in the limo, I was on the FJR!)

For the San Antonio and Austin crowd, how about I35 to HWY79 to I45 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=san+antonio,+TX&daddr=30.831498,-96.685181+to:Fairfield,+TX&geocode=&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=8&via=1&sll=30.57286,-97.33332&sspn=3.386056,5.377808&ie=UTF8&z=8)? Easy to follow and a little more scenery than I35/HWY84.
I live just north of Taylor. I'll intercept in Thrall though - just past it - because there isn't anywhere to sit on the loop around Taylor. There is a store in Thrall I can wait at though; I'll just watch for a mis-matched group of bikes to go by. :lol2:

I think the largest was January '09 in Conroe with somewhere between 100 and 120 people if I remember correct.
You are going to need a bigger crowd to overwhelm Sam's, they are use to crowds.

I'm about 90% on attending. I'm debating about meeting some friends for breakfast tacos around 7:30am, then bailing on them close to 8:30am. Unless I can talk some of them into coming with me, that is. My plan was to head out 79 a ways, then somewhere near Marquez head north then catch something heading east. Just don't remember the road numbers. I tend to avoid the interstates.
Are you going to be at the Shell station store in Thrall? that's all I can remember there.
I'll post up again later if I'm definitely going and then we can figure on meeting there.

If we can be kickstands up at 9am in Thrall at the Thrall Food store (I think that is the name of the new convenience/gas store) then my mapping software says we can be at Sam's by 11:15. Sound good?
Oh, and I'm in for sure.
Kurt, you and I could meet at the duck pond at Hairy Man and Great Oaks at 8:20am if you want.

I'll be with you all in Spirit. I'm riding with a group up the Vulture Mine Road to the back side of Wickenburg tomorrow. (assuming I don't get another flat) Good luck finding it on a map, but if you're curious, start at Wickenburg AZ, enlarge the map, and then look for the VMR on the SW quadrant of the town and then follow it down the mountain to the SW.
Unfortunately I have to ride 90 miles just to get to the meeting point. That's the one major drawback to living on the south side of Phoenix. All the good stuff is on the north side.

My guess is around 9:30 and leave about 9:45. I won't go to the stake for it though.
It kinda all depends on what time we can get away from Minyards and pick up all the hitchhikers on the way... :-P
