Riding flat track on smooth concrete is a total blast. The sideways action is fantastic, I used to do it when ever a event came up and loved it. The only thing close to it in terms of fun was ice racing indoors. We would screw sheet metal screws into the lugs on a tire on each lug, the result was almost like riding on a rail. I did that only once up in Baltimore but loved it. My last indoor event was Hampton Roads Coliseum back in the early 70's and they brought out a lot of the old flat track icons, like Bart Markle who eliminated me in my heat race by using me as a berm going through a corner, putting me into the hay bales. Later on he came by and told me he was sorry for knocking me out of the running but that was life in the fast lane. a lesson I learned and remembered later on. You would be surprised by how good and consistent the traction available on polished smooth concrete can be, the more rubber that sticks to the track the better the traction gets.

Back in the early 70s, I ran on polished concrete in an arena in San Antonio. It really negates horsepower, can tell ya that. LOL!

This looks like fun! My left knee is junk though. Can we run it clockwise? ;-)
I could always get a brace. I should have one anyway.
So now I need yet another motorcycle.:lol2:

The only people that can run it backwards must either have Durelle Suspension or rode PPHC.:rider:
You can probably run you PPHC set up unless it was knobbies. Then the concrete might:eat:

I would soo do this if I wasn't already going to Oakhill.
I hope they do it again. I have been dreaming of flat track lately. It would even more enticing if there were an outlet in my backyard.

To bring this back to the top, the WACO half miles are just around the corner! Come on down and see if you can get some of the purse money for the Ron Stratton Sr. Memorial Open Pro Flat Track race on Saturday October 3rd. Purse is solid at minimum $4000.00 for this single race. There will also be a 150% payback from Glenn McNamara for this single race. Bring what you think it will take to win and hope you brought enough! This race is in addition to the normal VDTRA program which is always awesome in itself.
This is a great warm up to Pomona for the GNC guys.
Thanks again to Glenn McNamara for allowing my family this privilige.
