A few of us from around These Parts (TP) will be riding down to attend. As of now, I think most of us are bike camping nearby.
I'm posting this partly because I have no way to network from home with the others (Internet service is out; I'm at Barnes&Nobles right now with laptop), and it might be fun to meet up with other TWTers that may be attending.
Here (http://theroundup.org/) is the link to the website.
Link (http://www.fredericksburg-texas.com/campground--rv-parks) to campgrounds in the area.
Schedule (http://theroundup.org/?page_id=14).
Exhibitors (http://theroundup.org/?page_id=9).
I'm considering riding down on Friday, setting up camp and checking it all out while picking up on seminars of interest. I think a few others are riding down Sat. morning.
Anyone else going?

I'm up for a ride down anytime Friday.
I'll be going on from there to a Trans American Trail ride so I'll be packed for that too. We will be headed East and work out way back West the next week.
I'm good with staying almost anywhere.
I'm good with any campground or Hotel anyone wants to choose.
It looks like the Seminars start at 1:00 PM Friday, so a morning ride would be nice!
You have my cell and feel free to call any reasonable hour.

Curtis, you lucky dog........ I want to do TAT, too!
I'll find out tomorrow (hopefully) if I can sneak away Friday. I'd prefer a nice leisurely ride down Friday morning. Care to ride with me, Curtis?
I emailed a campground ~11 miles E of Freddiesburg and only a skip and hop away from Luckenbach: Armadillo Campground. (http://www.armadillofarmcampground.com/) They have primitive sites available and we are welcome to camp there. Fee is $10/person, includes shower facility. Because of burn bans, no on-ground campfires except for in designated rings. But they also have a few large pits for campfires, so I think that is acceptable, yes?
One or two others will join us Saturday morning riding down from DFW area. Considering the wide array of seminars, this will be interesting. The only thing I don't see that I would have like to, is alternative 'green' construction techniques such as strawbale and adobe. But looks like a lot will address supplying energy living off the grid.

My wife wants to know if they have a seminar on capturing all my gaseous emissions, she says if she can capture that the US can stop it's foreign dependance.

Let me know when and where and I'll be there for the ride down. I'm not going to be in a big hurry either. But it would be nice to get there by lunch or so.
The Campground will work for me. I'll be living out of a tent for the next week so I may as well start asap.
Let me know about the work schedule.
Did you get your internet back up at the house?

Just an FYI, I've stayed down there many a time and the KOA outside of F-burg is quite nice. Wish we could be there, but we now have a fireworks show on Friday and Saturday so it's a no go. Darn it.....

Did you get your internet back up at the house?Late yesterday. I spent several hours on the phone with several 'advanced technicians' (Indian AND American). Six calls later, some Indian lady finally resolves the issue in 15 minutes.
I spent most non-working ranch time today (mowing, getting mower stuck, swearing, picking the danged thing up and pushing it out, spraying, waging war on fire ants, picking up lightning strike debris, blah blah) catching up, especially on ADV. Got plans now for Oregon, modifying/customizing the DR, and found a 3-season full-suit that might fit me for 1/3 the cost of an Aerostitch. I'll plug the wireless back in tomorrow.

I bet the KOA in Freddiesburg will be packed with RVers that weekend.

Maybe, but the tent camping is kinda off on their own little section. And the only thing I've really liked about KOA is that all the RV spots are full hookup, so there's usually never any gennies running all night.

Overflow is already booking at Armadillo.

Dang... it's gonna be a good turnout. Y'all have fun and maybe next time we can join in the fun. Oh yeah, and bring back plenty of goodies for Rachel and I to peruse.
I am riding down early Saturday morning.

Have fun...and I hope they mention that we have one natural resource that is very cheap compared to other fossil fuels and produces very little carbon foot-print compared to coal and North America has HUGE amounts of it ----> that could last many, many decades based on our current needs......NATURAL GAS.
Just fodder for thought....

Heading down tomorrow morning. Staying at Armadillo campground, barely a mile from Luckenback.

We've been a couple of times, it's pretty fun and interesting. Heavy on the hippies and granola (the wife and I's code name is "The Hippie Fest), but usually a lot of info and demos on alternative building methods. They usually (kinda) build a straw house on site during the event.
Good options on rain water harvesting as well, now that we have rain again.
If nothing else, the people watching is usually pretty good.
Rain water harvesting is going to be my focus. I am looking at starting a business in that field to replace my pointless large company career.

I love packing the bike. It reminds me of the anticipation of a good ride while putting saddle on Shadow. I think I live for going on bike trips..........
Toodles!

WELL THAT WAS FUN.
The Expo had a lot of Information for me and I made a lot of contacts in the RDG Industry.
I left Luckenback this morning (Sunday) and headed Northeast to meet up with some friends to do the TAT ride.
I am now in West Helena Arkansas in a Hotel room. I'm across the River from Memphis! It was a 690 mile day on the KLR. 11 hours! I needed a soft bed and AC. The Campground in Luckenback was noisy and hot and bugs everywhere. Mosquitoes that wanted to carry you away. You would work up a sweat just drying off from the shower.
Anyway, ya'll have fun, maybe I'll be back in time for the next Friday night Ice Cream. But don't count on it.
I'm thinking Saturday or Sunday.
Got to get some rest, we start early and I still have to find the group already on the Trail. That should be ineresting!
