so we bought some gear for my wife and thankfully she is really enjoying riding with me, just short trips so far. She mentioned she wanted to go riding this weekend, so i'm trying to find a spot for an enjoyable few hours ride.
Anyone know of a good spot to eat lunch on/around the water at Lake Buchanan ? either a good picnic area or a nice waterfront eatery of some sort would be good. would make for a nice hour long ride there, have lunch, and ride back, just the thing to keep her enjoying the outings.

Well, there's the Pie Run in Kyle...but if you want to go out to the lake then I can see a couple of parks in Mapsource. West of the lake on 261 is Black Rock Park, further up and on almost an island is city park. Further up is a LCRA park. The LCRA is going to be the most likely to be a public park. Just south of Lake Buchanan is Inks Lake. The state park is a nice visit and so is Park Road 4. Specially south and east of Inks Lake. If it's warm, eat up at Longhorn Caverns on PR 4. They actually had some decent BBQ sandwiches the time I ate there.

Camping, lodging, dining, swimming, picnic, whatever. It's at the end of 2341, which is a really nice 15 +/- mile ride.

I had the pleasure of having Thanksgiving Dinner at Canyon of the Eagles two years ago. The food, service, and atmosphere were 5 Star. I would highly recommend this for your outing. Might call ahead though just to make sure of the times they are open for meals.
