I signed up on the site here a few nights ago so I thought it may be time for me to introduce myself to the rest of the group here. My name is Kelly and I live in Cy-Fair along with my family. I am just getting back into the street bike scene after a long 9 year lay off since the birth of my daughter. I told my wife after selling my Nighthawk that one day I would buy another and 2 months ago I purchased a 2002 Bandit 1200S and I am tickled to death with the bike. I registered on a few web sites but have yet to have any time to tag along on any group rides. I hope to get to know everyone so I can start joining in on some of the rides.

See ya soon,

Kelly

Howdy Kelly,

:tab Congrats on the Bandit 1200! That is an awesome bike, like driving a locomotive  Hopefully, your wife will consider riding with you on it because it is a great two up bike. We are doing a ride out of Huntsville on Aug. 23rd. Details are in the Upcoming Events forum. There is also the Houston Sportbike Network (http://houstonsportbikenetwork.com) group. They do rides pretty much every weekend. Very few of the rides are anything formal, just everyone that has time off meeting and riding, mostly on the weekends. I do group rides and run guided tours. Glad you found your way here and hope to meet you soon!

Hey guys I am also in the 290/ jones area. My story is scarily similar to yours. I rode an 83 Honda CB750f for my first bike (my wife burned her leg on the exhaust on our first date, have to make sure they are cool enough to ride with you  ) She talked me into giving it up but now that I am having the early mid-life crisis I also jumped back into riding beginning of the year. I strongly considered the Bandit but the oil issue made me nervous so I got the FZ1. I love the naked super standards. Great bike, we will have to ride. If you want to go on the 23rd let me know and we can meet up for the ride to Scott's

Hey Kelly,

:tab What username did you use to register? You mentioned that you signed up but I noticed your post shows "guest" as your username. I just want to make sure you got signed up with no problems.

Scott, After signing up I was unable to post under my name. I registered as KJM-B12 but ended up posting as a guest so it would take. I am writing this not knowing if it is going to work. I think I remember seeing in one of your post that AOL users may have some trouble and that is my ISP.

Jim, Thanks for responding to my post. I am looking forward to riding with you soon. I am pretty sure that I want to try and ride Sat. morning so maybe then if your not doing anything.

Inigo, You are the first person for me to meet on here who lives as close as you do. Are they going to do a ride from Scott's place on Saturday? I have some plans about 2PM but if they are riding maybe we c an head out there early so I can meet some people.

Jim, what about it if your not busy Saturday.

I have another Bandit rider who I met online ( we rode 1 time together)and I know he has been wanting to some more riding. He lives in The Woodlands.

John,
I am sorry for calling you Jim. I just saw the jm together and just thought it was Jim.

Scott, as you can see it didn't work this time either. I type my user name in the box and when I try to submit it just does nothing. When I take my user name out of the user name box and leave it blank and hit submit. It comes back and says that I am successful and it throws me up as a guest.

:tab Hmm... AOL is lame :-P When you try to log in, the forum tracks your IP address. AOL changes your IP while you are surfing. Normally, as with most other ISP's, your IP address stays fixed while you are surfing. When you log in and the forum sees your IP address change in the middle of a session (time logged into TWT), it assumes someone has hijacked your session and shuts you down to keep some nutcase from doing stuff under your name. When you log in as a guest, the forum does not really worry about your IP address.

:tab Most forums have this problem. The folks that developed the phpBB software we are using are aware of this problem and trying to figure out a way to work around it, but I don't think they have come up with anything just yet. :-(

:tab Other than contacting AOL and griping at them, I don't know what to tell you. This really sucks because there are quite a few AOL users on the forum and I hate that many of them probably seldom visit because of the problems. For now, you can continue to post as a guest, just sign your messages with your name so we know who you are. If you like I can delete your account so it will let you use the username in place of "guest". Just let me know.

Kelly,

I will swing by the shell at 290/1960 (hwy 6) on my way out. That should be around 7:45. If you are definitely going to be there post something and I will wait. I will check in the morning. Some other people on the HSN were talking about this but it didn't sound like it got firmed up real well.

I would like to come out and meet you so I will be at the Shell at 7:45 but I am still unsure as of right now if I will be heading out to Scott's.
