This Thanksgiving, KosmicKLR spent several days in North Carolina where the NC, VA and TN borders intersect. Mount Rodgers national park and the Jefferson National forest are incredible!
He attempted the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail twice, and some of it was very do-able on the KLR. However, I encountered some steep muddy climbs and some drop-offs that forced me to turn around and get off the trail, since he was alone, and could not be sure of a safe journey.
The KLR was cumbersome on the narrow, steep, muddy, rocky and root covered horse trail. Kosmic got stranded on a rocky uphill section and it took him an hour to turn the bike around after dropping it several times, and having to fill a large drop-off with rocks in order to propel the bike over some big tree roots.
Kosmic is posting after just completing the 19 hour drive from NC, to Austin TX and tomorrow is driving 8 hrs to West TX. to meet Frostbit and company who just completed the B.U.T.T. ride!
