Service Report for http://www.americanmototire.com

Who:American Motorcycle Tire
7702 E. Gray Road #101
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
Phone: 800-949-1794

What: Online vendor selling tires, rims, tubes, and accessories, ATV's, dual sport, dirt bikes, street bikes, scooters, and competition.

Where: http://www.americanmototire.com

Product purchased: Michelin Pilot Road 160/60 ZR18

Price: $117.60, shipping $11.54 = $129.14

I placed my order online Friday, July 1st at 8:48am. Despite their website claims that 95% of orders ship the same day, the email confirmation of my order said "Will ship in 1-3 business days".

UPS shows they actually shipped Tuesday, July 5th at 8:55pm. My tire arrived at my house the afternoon of July 8th.

Pretty good service considering it was across a holiday weekend.

They sent email confirmation of my order, and later emailed me a UPS tracking number. These are niceties I have come to expect from online vendors. I avoid purchasing from online vendors who don't care enough to set up those.

Their website is clean, fast, and easy to use. Prices are competitive. I would use them again.

Comparison (price + shipping):

http://www.americanmototire.com 117.60 + 11.54 = 129.14

http://www.ronayers.com 118.54 + 8.00 = 126.54

http://www.swmototires.com 121.95 + 14.00 = 135.95

FYI, if you order more than one tire from SWmotoTires, the shipping is free. Don't know about the others.

I know some guys on STN were having some trouble with them awhile back. It seemed they merged with someone else or moved from SoCal to Arizona. Good to see that they might be back to the service everyone was talking about before whatever happened. Options are always a good thing.

I checked their prices against SW Moto before I ended up buying mine on sale at Cycle Gear. They were comparable on the tire that I was looking at (Metzler Z6, Avon AV45/46 and Michelin Pilot Roads) but the shipping always bumped them a little higher.

I would probably buy from SW Moto based on the rave reviews, but if they didn't have what I wanted, American Moto would be the next stop.
