Why not just actually come for pie with us? I promise we will NOT be participating in the "I can sweat more than you" contest that the DFW crew has going on.

Eeeww! :rofl

Thanks for the invite, but a trip to Marble Falls is too ambitious for me this time of year. You'll also have to get up at an un-Godly hour to make it there by 11:00 a.m. I'm just looking to do a pleasant little ride out and back before the temps hit their afternoon peak. You're welcome to join me if your alarm clock has one of those mysterious malfunctions. ;-)

Nope, not that far. Just up to Lake Somerville. I'll definitely do another day ride up to Salado this fall though. Maybe we can hook up then? 8-)

Cindy sort of feels the Marble Falls is a bit of a stretch for her also. Where in Brenahm are you planning on going and what time to you plan on being there? Maybe Cindy and I can hook up with you guys in Brenham.

Hey Chris! I figured we would stop to have lunch at Must Be Heaven (http://www.mustbeheaven.com/brenham.htm) cafe in downtown Brenham. We should be there @ 11:00 a.m. Hope to see you there.

Well, beside the fact that it'll be hotter than hay-deeze, the weather reports look pretty favorable for tomorrow's ride. There'll be cool drinks, A/C and ice cream waiting for us in Brenham anyway. ;-)

I think I can make this one too!

Paul, will your route go up Robert's Cemetary Road (the usual route)? If yes, I will meet you at Mike's Country store on the corner of Robert's Cem. and Nichols Sawmill Road at about 8:45.

Maybe next time I can stay for the entire ride and not get pulled back into work..... :headbang:

Chris and I had a nice time meeting you guys for lunch, and the ride back with Dr. Blackbird was good, too. Sorry about the brake lights in that one corner - Chris just kept slowing down, and I thought I was gonna hit him.

Sorry about Linda. Chris and I didn't see it, so either she'll have to tell or one of those guys will. She's ok, the bike needs some TLC.

The best roads I saved 'til after lunch, db, so you'll need to join us again when you have a little more time.

Good to see everyone who turned out for the ride. Linda seems to have popped right up after her little slide, none the worse for wear. Always relieved to see that after anybody drops their bike. Her SV didn't fare so well; a bent handlebar, broken shift and clutch levers, so she and Jim decided to call it a day at that point. Hope to see you two again on a ride soon - after all, you still have that GS500, Linda. ;-)

Lunch at Must Be Heaven was great, as usual. My chicken salad sandwich was excellent. Followed that with a huge slice of chocolate hazelnut cheesecake and a couple cups of their gourmet coffee. Mmmm! Chris regaled us with tales of his mis-spent youth. I think he missed his calling in life - sounds like he would have been a natural at demolition.

On the way back, we took Mike's suggestion to take a detour and see an interesting example of country-style roadside humor. I'll post pictures of that later. ;-) Shortly after that, we ran into Nutmegchoi in Chappell Hill while she was in route to Austin, and caught up with her for a while. Good to see you again Nut! 8-)

People broke off from the ride at different points in order to get home and take care of other committments, eventually leaving me and Mike to finish off on our own. We hooked up later on to check out a hot-rod car show (and burn-out contest  ) that evening at the 59 Diner. I'll post a few pictures of that too.

The heat really wasn't all that bad Saturday, and for the most part, we had the roads to ourselves, so it was a nice outing. Many thanks to everyone for joining me!
