I suppose this is a dual sport ride report, nothing beats coming out a gravel road and hitting the twisties;

from Townsend, TN I rented a KLR and went to Cades Cove, to Parsons Branch and popped out on the Dragon, US 129, and back on the Foothills Parkway

she is just happy not to drive the whole way; the Blue Ridge is fun to drive, even in the CRV

grandpa cheats at cards :rofl:; I had a hand of 4 aces and won all the sweet and low packets :trust:

the KLR was nice, I was surprised how small it felt; I got there the 2nd day after the Dragon reopened

My dad and I are going to be heading that way in the fall or spring. Your photos make me want to go now! The only sad thing is that my dad will be on his cruiser, so the roads less traveled will be out of the question.

Where did you stay while you were there and would you recommend it? We were debating whether to do cabin, motel, or camping.

I liked Parsons Branch. Kind of fun popping out in the middle of the dragon and riding the twisties after some fun dirt.

We stayed at Riverstone Lodge http://www.riverstonelodge.com/ in Townsend, I really like the town its right on the river, they have bicycles you can just take and ride through town; there was a camp fire going and even a band playing; Dan who rents KLRs also has some cabins http://www.gsmmotorent.com but I think they required a longer stay;

I'd recommend Townsend any day; and the Blue Ridge Parkway, kinda of an underrated motorcycle road
