Details here (http://www.mototek.com/03TrackDay.htm).
Caveat: I can't afford to do the track day (don't have the $140, or fresh tires, or motivation to trackify the RST), but plan on going up and maybe demo-riding (if available for free) or just watching Good Riders and taking piccies. I'll be up by noon or so, with a buddy on a GS.
If the bouncers don't let me in for any reason, then can someone recommend a nice place for lunch in those parts?
Hope to see some twtex'ns there (scratch? ;) )...

What kind of food are you interested in? We have quite a few good places to eat in the Bryan/College Station area. I've got school and work on Monday, so I won't be able to make it. Probably just as well. I'd want to snag a ride on one of those RS250s and get all addicted to the two-stroke thing again...

Wow, this is very tempting. I will actually be in the College Station area Monday on my Ducati. However, I know I cannot meet the 50% tire tread rule. Wish I had ordered those tires already.
I will be headed out to do the "Leakey Loop" on Tuesday and Wednesday if anyone wants to join.

I'm not picky, burgers/sandwiches'd be great, along with a nice atmosphere.
Thanks for any/all recommendations...

Desmo,
This is Kelly that you met the other night in Montgomery on the silver Bandit. What is the Leakey Loop? I am going to be off on Tuesday and would like to ride some. I'll check back with you.

Skip College Station. They have all the chain and "professional" restaurants.
If you don't get in head back toward Bryan on 6 and take 21 like you're going home. About 100 yards west of MLK is "Shannons". Smack dab in the middle of the 'hood, but everyone is welcome and they serve good soul food.
If you don't wanna be a hoodrat you're gonna pass by Long Horn anyway. they have good burgers and steaks. If you're feeling like you need something healthy they have a HUGE grilled chicken salad.

My boss talks about Shannon's all the time, but I have yet to make it out there. He always seems to go on the days when I get out of class late and have lunch before getting to work. :( If you like Mexican food, there's Gina's and Zarapi's in Bryan as well. Gina's is on Bryan street in Downtown Bryan one block west of Main. Zarapi's is on Main. Close to Villa Maria on Texas Avenue is Sloppy Joe's. They have a little bit of everything there and the food is good. My boss has known the owner for 40 or so years, so we go there pretty often. 10-95 is right, College Station is mostly chain restaurants now, so if you want some individuality and atmosphere, you need to go into Bryan. I'll see what else I can think of this weekend and post what I come up with.

If you knew what I knew about a certain waiter there................
Suffice to say, I will not eat there.

Kelly,
Sorry, but don't know any other way to get in touch with you besides this thread. Leaky Loop is west side of Texas hill country. Near Garner State Park. Good riding but maybe a long way from Houston for a single day. I have access to a lake house at Canyon Lake (about 3/4 of the way there) and plan to spend the night Tuesday.
If you want to go meet me at Yegua Park campgrounds on Lake Somerville, site #2, NLT 8:30 AM Tuesday. I am camping there all week (travel trailer = not really camping). The weather will be perfect for riding.
For now I am headed to TWS to try to sneek a ride like Buck000.

Well, what a mixed bag of day this one was.
Bad: was all ready to go this a.m., took off, clutch felt weird, turned out my reservoir (hydraulic clutch) was empty. Didn't get out of town until 1145. :(
Good:
* Sitting on a Mille R Factory (yoiks, it was so light, I felt like I could pick it up!).
* Listening to Big V-Twins going by on the TWS main straight at 150-160.
* Scenic Road 390 from Navasota to 290, freshly paved in spots, A-1 asphault that didn't even have the center lines painted yet.
:)
Weird: The biggest roadkill I'd ever seen: a huge dead black bull on the side of the road.
Due to time constraints, we wound up catching food at Fat Burger in College Station. Thanks again, anyway, for the recommendations; I'll try one of the Bryan restaurants when I'm in the area again.

Desmo,
Sounds like fun but it would be too far for me to make on Tuesday since I have to be back on duty Wednesday. I am sure we can make it another time but have fun and be safe.

:tab Lately, on one of our regular roads, we have been seeing cattle out of their pastures quite a lot. Often there will be three of four in a group standing on the shoulder of the road. This is a winding little FM and you don't see these behemoths until you are right on them. Eerily, it seems that many of them are black. Just tonight, we passed about six of them in a clump. Fortunately none of them freaked and ran into the road because Beth was coming up behind me pretty fast. Not a mile later, we pass another one that is just running down the shoulder along the fence row. This one spooked a little more but tried running over the fence rather than us. I have been in a car that hit a full grown bull full on broadside. The car was totalled. The bull actually got up and walked away but was later put down because of internal injuries. Hitting one of these beasties on the bike would be like hitting a brick wall.
Adios,

Chris,
Is this the same Zarape's that use to be in College Station years ago?? In the 60's and 70's I used to eat at a Zarape's in C.S. that was on the street that runs east-west on the north side of the campus (can't remember the name... same street where Dixie Chicken is).
Buck000,
I thought that was you when I was travelling east on 290 on Monday afternoon. I saw you just outside of Burton...I was riding my F4i w/ a buddy on his '04 Triumph Daytona 600. Come out that way from Houston trying to find 390. We ended up missing it the first time past but doubled back and rode it all the way through....pretty fun road.

Hey, Jeff,
I was probably just heading home at that point. I hope I waved... ;)
