I was riding out that way today and some of the roads around Normangee and Madisonville were all torn up. OSR was grated down to dirt for about a mile and the road through Normangee (35?) was even worse. It was that way for a number of miles and was loose gravel after that  . 977 was fine though with no construction as far as I could tell  .
Be careful if you're riding out there :chug: !

:tab Was road work being done on them or were they just torn up? It would be nice of some of those roads were repaved!

Blyech. I was on that stuff on 21 west of Madisonville and then again just east of Bryan.

There wasn't any roadwork going on when I went through but that isn't surprising since that was on a Sunday afternoon but it does look like this is part of an effort to repave. It looks like in thiose sections I mentioned they had grated the asphalt off and left the dirt underneath. It was no fun on a dry day I would hate to think what those sections would be like in the rain!

just make your turns flat track style...one foot down, hard on the throttle & plenty of counter steering  :help:

I have been down 39 south of Normangee several times in the past few months and can attest to the fact that they are making progress. This last weekend was the best I have ever seen it. They only had a mile or so torn up this time. I don't know how far north they are repaving but it appears that they are totally tearing up the old road and putting in a new road bed before repaving. So the end of 39 construction may be near or it may last forever, only time will tell.
