Need an overnight camping spot somewhere around Hillsboro to 30 miles West and South.
We are going to stopover on our way to TAR in Junction.
Thanks

I was gonna say Lake Whitney since it is Corps of Engineers

I guess Plowman is part of it

Lake Waco is Corps too Reynolds Creek

Thanks guys and gals. Plowman is kinda on the wrong end of Whitney and off route a little. I normally go across the dam when I go that way.
What about the campground at the East end of the dam?

Another free one...

Walling Bend

Located on the west shore at the lower end of the lake.
From the dam take Texas 22 east 5 miles and turn right on Texas 56.
Turn right again on FM 2841 which ends in the park.

Two 2-lane boat ramps and primitive camping

No fee required

Open all year

Operated by US Army Corps of Engineers (254) 622-3332
