Hey if you could keep some friends of mine in your prayers, it would be much appreciated. Dawn and Josh, who are set to get married in Nov., were riding home Sat night when a car changed lanes and forced Dawn off the roadway. Josh was behind her and ended up laying it down.
Josh suffered road rash but Dawn ended up in a grassy ravine and broke her rotator cuff, kneecap, and wrist. They were all clean breaks and nothing was shattered. They were wearing full face helmets and protective jackets. It's kind of sobering because we saw them Sat night at Church and we rode our scoot to church that night.

Dawn will be at Baylor Grapevine for a couple days. Me and Marcy are heading over on Tues before the Tarrant Co. meet n greet.

Thanks, Chris

What did Dawn ride?

I hope the recovery goes well. They shall be in my thoughts and prayers.

Best to them.

As much as I'd like Yvonne to ride, I can't imagine what it would be like watching her go down. I think I can understand why Josh would get distracted and lose it as well.

What did Dawn ride?

She rode a Gixxer 600. I think Josh has one too but can't remember. They joined us for the Hard 8 BBQ ride awhile back. She's been to the MSF class and been riding about a year. They are good folks.

I spoke to Josh yesterday and she has a titainium pin in her wrist. I'll know more when I see them tonight.

Long time ago I had a best friend who was married to an exceptional beautiful and wonderful woman. He brought home a brand new BSA Lighting 650, it was very pretty bike. She fell in love with it soon as she saw it and asked him to show her how to ride it. So he let her get on it and showed her the simple controls and how they worked. I was standing there watching them. The bike was in the drive way and the motor was running pointed out to the street. How hard could it be to ride a motorcycle for a accomplished bicycle rider? So the scene was set for what happened. No one bothered to aquaint her with the 1/4 turn throttle. She dropped the bike in gear, got right up close to the tank, with her arms bent and her right hand way up on the throttle, gave it a little gas, and let the clutch out. The immediate acceleration caused her to slide back on the seat which caused her to rotate the throttle wide open, sheer terror caused her to hold on for dear life, the bike made a straight line bee run across the street straight into the brick side of the house across the street. The impact threw her head first into the brick....no helmet was worn. I got to see two of my most favorite people in the world collectivly end their lives right before my eyes. She died on impact, it was not pretty, he died inside.....it only took him longer before he went to be with her. That is why I have not taught my loved ones to ride, my wife would ride in a skinny second if I would allow it. People sometimes forget that it takes a certain period of time to aquire the needed set of reflexes that you need to survive aboard a motorcycle in todays traffic, the MSP is great and I have taken it myself and heartly recommend to people who tell me that they want to start riding to take it. Just add to that to stay off the main roads for a time and try to stay uninjured or alive till you have the street survival skills that you need. Hearing the above story sort of tripped a old memory that brought out some long hidden emotions, I apologise.

Well here is an update - Josh's roadrash looks bad but left leg and left elbow will heal. Both were wearing jeans, Icon Jackets, gloves, and helmets. It seems jacket sleeve moved a bit and that is how he ended up w/ elbow rash. Oddly enough, he didn't have a slider on the side of bike that hit the cement. All plastic on that side is gone and he has a slight oil leak. Ins. Co. might total it.

Dawn's bike fared much better (I need sliders on my scooter) and should be fixable. Despite kneecap, she can walk (albeit slowly) but wrist and shoulder injury are on opposite sides so she can't do much of anything. She's going to Dr. today for follow up. They are planning on riding again and will join us for the cycle show. They will be caging it!

Accident run down: Heading S/B on service rd of 121 @ Bass Pro. They are in left lane accelerating and they have passed a truck (fireman) in right lane. They are passing another truck when right lane ends and merges into 1 lane. Truck comes over w/o signaling forcing Dawn onto shoulder. She hits brakes on gravel and loses it. Josh said he braked hard and lost it. Both say there inexperience on bike contributed to accident. Truck drove off but came back later complaining his bumper was damaged! :angryfire Fireman stopped to help and he and a couple witnesses gave statements to police.

It's good to hear that your friends are improving, Sharkey.

Chris, carrying the memory of that heart-breaking accident must be a terrible burden. I don't know what else to say.

I'll say a prayer for Dawn and Josh. I like your slogan "over coming evil with good". I'll go for that! Well here is an update - Josh's roadrash looks bad but left leg and left elbow will heal.
