Removed the spacer on the number plate light today .Always thought it stuck
out too far .Quite easy once i pulled it apart and reversable if need be .

Tasi,

Suzukijo came up with this about 3 years ago, which I also did to mine shortly after he posted up about it here. Then I went even smaller. :rider:

I'd had a look at your mod a while back and liked it .
I was having a cup of tea yesterday sitting down looking at the bike .
I had always thought that the N.P.Light was one piece untill then .
I'll have to admitt i dont think the light on the plate is now quite as good.
Its O.K. just not as bright .
I'm still going to keep my eye out for something else better as its still
a unattractive shape.

I'm surprised to see a hex, head bolt on the grab handle position .I thought you were an Allen head man.

That's for my quick detach mounts for my sport rack I sell.

My LED license plate light is brighter then the stock light ever was, even before I took out the spacer. It literally lights up about a 6' area behind my bike at night.

Thats bright .I may have to try a bigger bulb .
Ended up making a rubber cush out of a push bike inner tube and removed the
old large one. Apologies if I'm repeating someone Else's post from a while back.

Most of the vifferisti have just eliminated the tag light and added a clear lens to the bottom of the center running lights to light the tag. Also allows a shorter fender.

Just saying.

I actually started doing that mod .Then thought, i sill need a reflector and
the plate so no real advantage unless i want to cut down the guard .
Have done that before and regretted it . Clever idea though .

If you do the "remove the spacer mod" replace the 5w bulb with a 10w
while you have it off.

I had LED tag bolts on another bike. They worked, more or less, but weren't very bright and didn't provide a very even illumination. That could be viewed as a good thing.

The worst thing, though, was that you need to disconnect the wires any time you want to remove the plate.

Excellent point about the wiring needing to be disconnected when pulling the tag. I'll definitely use some kind of quick disconnect if I go that route.
