Thats where I go deer hunting, 573 of off 590 to Mullin is ok too. Needless to say, watch out for bambi at dusk n dawn. A few miles more south and 16 becomes good.

:tab There are actually quite a few good roads out there. You don't hear much about them though because there isn't much out there except small towns and ranches. We were out in that area after the recent Pie Run and saw only a handful of bikes, and that was only when we got closer to Lampasas. Most of the towns out there are of the old/dying kind that have long since outlived their prime. It's pretty country though!

I lived in Lampasas a few years, even graduated high school there. That might explain alot about me.... Have you road 590? I might head back there this weekend. Are there any roads worth riding in the San Angelo area? 765 looks straight and boring but I might have to give it a try.

Thanks everybody.

:tab 580 is just West of Lampasas and fun. However, the road is closed to thru traffic on the stretch running out of town before you get to the Colorado River, at the Lynch Creek Crossings. They are rebuilding the bridges. YOu can get by them but you have to drive down relatively steep banks into the creek on dirt. If there is any water, it would be ugly... Dry it was no problem on street bikes as long as you go slow and be careful of the loose sand.

580 was almost a daily thing when I lived in Lampasas.
