My dad lives up in Atoka and I wanted to ride up to see him this past Sunday.

I found this post from schrec with his route using FM roads.

I pretty much followed it exactly. I was planning a longer trip after I got in to OK that went further east, but it was getting late and I decided to go straight up 69 to Durant and get on 75 (ugh).

FM 5 was nice after Stacy Rd. Before that, it is just Greenville Rd and normal in town driving. North of Stacy Rd, it gets green and you feel like you're not in the middle on the city.

My GF's name is Melissa and FM5 goes through there, so I had to stop there and get a pic.

Most of the roads are pretty straight but there are a few sweepers once you get up to FM120.

I found these weird things somewhere along the way.

I finally got to the bridge and wasn't sure anyone should be driving on that thing. A big F250 pulling a cattle trailer loaded down went across so it should be ok for me. :)

Here is a video of the ride across:

You can see that the railing is not too great, but it was cool to see a bridge that is over 100 years old.

Here is video of clips of the ride in several spots. Pretty boring, but I'll post it for anyone that is REALLY bored.

Overall a really nice ride up to Durant. Hwy 75 sucked with lots of construction. I wish I had more time to take FM roads all the way.

The ride home did suck by the way. Had to get home for the Mavs game and took 75 all the way in to a head wind.

We used to go camping at Lake Eufaula so this would be a fun way to get there! I kind of laughed when your left hand came up after you got across the bridge - sort of like "PHEW! Not cole slaw!!!"

That bridge looks terrifyingly fun :-D

I liked the hairy metal water buffalo thing, too:thumb:
