Is there a way to make the default for post so it does not send email about replies?

Under your control panel, go to "Edit Options", then the " Messaging & Notification" section, and then the "Private Messaging" and deselect the e-mail notification.

Actually, I think you're talking about the email notifications every time someone else posts on a thread that you've posted on. I got those for a while too, and they're annoying.

User CP -> Edit Options -> Default Thread Subscription Mode -> Do Not Subscribe
Also go into your list of subscriptions and delete them to get them off the list.
