I rode from San Antonio to Dalhart and back Saturday and Sunday and the weather was just great. I was cold while riding for the first time since January! When I woke up this morning it was 46 degrrees in Dalhart and all I had taken was a mesh jacket and mesh pants. Not overpants, but Olympia Recon mesh pants so I didn't have any lining. I didn't even bring a pair of jeans with me. I never know how well the mesh works when its hot because...well its hot! Let me tell you they flow lots of air.
Anyone else get out this weekend?
Nice ride today. The leader was an hour and a half late for the start, then broke a chain about 40 miles into what was supposed to be a 400-mile ride, and we were just getting to the twisty bits. The other 3 riders stopped long enough to make sure the point man wasn't hurt, then mounted up and rode off. Kinda ticks me off when someone comes to a group ride with a poorly prepared bike. The rollers were holed clear through to the pins. Fortunately, no damage to the bike and no locked up wheel.
Anywho, rode the 40 miles home, went back with the car and trailer, then drove 30 miles past my house to deliver the bike and rider. No offer of lunch, no offer to pay for gas, nothing. Maybe 80 miles on the bike, 140 miles in the cage.
Probably a good thing the cahin broke. I was riding sweep and a couple times I thought I was going to be scraping up chunks the way the rest were riding. Just found out a few minutes ago the #3 rider before we split up ran off in a ditch into the end of a concrete culvert and totalled his bike. Anyone need some slightly tweeked FZ6 parts? Word is he'll be okay, eventually.

Tshelfer and I rode out west of Fort Worth, north of Weatherford, then south on 51 and FM4 yesterday. It was marvelously cool. I could live with this weather all year long.

I ride out that way quite a bit. 51 just north of 67 is one of the twistiest roads I know of in the area. Not that I've mastered it...
I'm riding to work on Friday (an uncommon luxury) and most of the day Saturday. Keeps me smilin. :)
