The in-laws took me and my wife to this place. We actually got tired of listening to how beautiful the sunsets were here. I had a hamburger and fries and it was very good. The service was excellent, which actually surprised me with the "atmosphere" it has. The only other thing I tasted was the nacho plate -- more nachos than even I can eat, and the tilapia filet, which had some kind of almond crust. VERY tasty.
They have a good choice of beer, wine and mixed drinks.
I can't believe you Austinites haven't posted this in the eateries section! Shame on you!!!!!

:tab We quite often would ride out there for breakfast on Sunday mornings before heading home to Huntsville after a weekend of riding. We'd get there about 15-20 minutes before they opened and they would let us go on in and pick a spot on the decks. It was a bit pricey for breakfast, but given the nice atmosphere, it was worth it. The service was always very friendly and very good. The decks as they were before the fire were amazing! Was like a giant incredible tree house.

The line is already long enough! I guess it just never occurs to anyone to post a local place.
Although it wouldn't be much of a lunch ride for the locals to the Oasis, the best roads in the area are 5 minutes away from there. Someone post a ride to there and hit the good stuff afterwards.

The limited menu at this time is due to the lightning strike fire they had June 1. They plan on having the full operation and menu back up sometime in the future.

The view at the Oasis is nice but it's a little pricey for what you get, and the atmosphere can be overwhelming. Iguana Grill has the same great view with a layed back Atmosphere and excellent tex/mex. Both great places just depends on what your going for.
That's my 2 cent maybe 4 I've got another place I'm going to be posting about, if no one has yet. The Stagecoach Inn man that takes you back. I digress this goes somewhere else.

Copied verbatim from the Austin City Guide website:
Directions: The Iguana Grill is located 2 miles south of Mansfield **** on Hwy 620. Think you can figure out the edited part. That's not the only instance of that spelling, either.
Happy birthday, BTW!

Was the Oasis rebuilt after it burned down?
Still in progress, but about half of it is open today.

The Oasis now was a far cry from what it was like before the fire a few years back. Still more than worth it though.

It is at the marina on Joe Pool Lake (Lake Ridge Parkway). The Tarrant County group has met there several times on Tuesday nights. It doesn't seem to be related to the Austin one from just looking at web sites...
