There are so many sub folders that I don't know where to post this, but:

Weather permitting, I would like to go with some other DS riders up to Antlers, OK from Dallas area (150 miles, or 3ish hours away).

- Leave Friday after work from Dallas (careful: night riding on backroads).
- Stay in Antlers ($37/night) Friday and Saturday; pretty decent hotel, actually.
- Ride Saturday and some of Sunday in the hundreds of miles of logging roads starting 7.5 miles outside of Antlers; it's a maze of roads up there.

Anyone interested?

I'm on a KLR that I just bought on Thanksgiving. I rode up there on Friday but am desperate to do it again.

I don't really want to ride in the mud, so it it's raining I may bail.

Working on picking up a 650 DS of some sort this week. If I do, I'd be in...

'course my XR400 *could* be trailered up too. She's just not up to prolonged speeds over 50-60ish...

:tab You got it in the right place ;-) I hve to work that weekend or I would like to join you. I have read numerous ride reports for people heading up in that area and it looks like a blast. Do you have maps of those roads or do you just wander aimlessly?

Jeff, let me know. I'm still trying to find boots that work, but will use my street racing or touring boots in a pinch and just go.

Scott, I have maps, but they are useless. I've got the Roads and Streets for Oklahoma which shows just about every non-neighborhood road in the state, but the logging roads are just a mess of new roads; it's impossible to follow or figure out where you are. I wandered aimlessly and got directions from hunters because I was quite lost.

You need a decent sized gas tank to go up there since there's a good chance you won't find your way out for some time...

How big is your trailer? I'm not looking forward to 150 miles of back roads at night with the KLR's lights. Could your trailer hold my KLR?

Split gas, drive up Friday together, swap riding stories on the way?

Just picked up a '02 XR650L tonight, er last night, in Round Rock. Would love to take it for a little trip this weekend.

My trailer is a 5x10 with chocks and a ramp, but not enclosed. I know 2 street bikes fit easily, not sure about off-road though. Only concern is the wide bars. Worst cast I'd have to drill new holes and move the chocks.

Your drive up Friday idea sounds like a winner. I'll be back in the office today (Wed) and will let you know for sure...

That's funny - I bought my KLR in Round Rock on Thanksgiving day and also have a tiny, unenclosed trailer (WAY smaller than 5x10, though). The KLR doesn't fit will on it, since the rear tire almost overhangs the back of the single tire rail.

Remember I'm new to this and probably won't keep up with you - will that bother you?

Let me know today, because I'll call the hotel and reserve two rooms.

I'm definitely game - got my boots, new armored undershirt, getting knee protection today. Let's go ride!!
