I have had the idea in my head for several years of a big dual sport loop down through the Big Bend Country. Last week it all came together.

Our ride started in Marathon with a carefully selected Crew.

Clark, in charge of all financial matters.

Scott, Official Gravel Slinger and to reach things in high places.

Rick, In charge of Security

Don, I think one of those shady looking characters eat your carrots when you had you back turned.

Dang that looks good, and I just ate. What restaurant, and where? I'll be in BB tomorrow.

Day one was Marathon to Chinati Hot Springs by way of the Alpine Loop. I was planing on about 50% dirt and gravel on this trip. I worked out to be about 90% pavement but enjoyable with great weather.

The restaurant is at the corner of 118 and 17 in Ft. Davis.
We lucked out on this find. Thursday is Fried Chicken Day. Buffet style. Opens at 11:30 and is over when the Chicken is gone. Highly recommended by the Crew! :eat:

Big Don is a Great Ride Leader , We all had a blast !!!
Other than Clark having to be there :lol2::rofl: just kidding Clark

Pinto Canyon Road was a blast and then we turned towards Chinati Springs for the night.
Chinati Hot Springs is a GREAT place to camp. They also have Cabins to rent.
It is good for winter tent camping. They have a fully stocked Kitchen in a building with lights that is big enough to hang out in. All you need to bring is food. Steaks over the grill, baked potatoes, and salad would have been great and easy to fix. I had something from a freeze dried boil in bag as did the rest. We were all happy!
They also have showers, flush toilets, and a hot spring pool to soak in. It was great.

Home sweet home , looks comfortable doesn't it?

Rick rented most of the stuff for his first camping trip, ever!

Haha, I just had the biggest attack of stupid. I'm looking at this picture & I'm thinking, there's 4 bikes but only 3 riders, how did they do that?

Post the route please, even it's a Google map we can follow along.

Traveling with that crew?! You're lucky they didn't auction you off to the zetas... :lol2:

Looks like a dang good trip. Keep it coming guys. :thumb:

Big Don,
What kind of seat is that on your KLR? It looks comfy, how does it do in the dirt?
