Just bought a new GSX1250FA a week ago with the Suzuki $199 bag deal.
Needed a bike with bags that I could do some miles on and the price was
right on this 2011 left over model (current year to me as my Buell was a
2009). Anyway, I had a 1996 Bandit 1100 when they first came out and it
is not like it at all except for the stock seat and handlebars. The motor is
now water cooled (96 was air and oil cooled) and the transmission is a 6
speed where the 96 was 5 speed. The GSX has a Full fairing and ABS and
Bags which my 96 1100 had none of. The old bike really vibrated at high
rev's if I remember correctly and the fairing seemed very "buzzy" which the
GSX does not. The new bike is a Torque Monster!! Revving over 8K is not
necessary where the old bike seemed to really like being revved to make
good power. The problem is every where I go people that know bikes say
"nice Bandit". What is even funnier is the folks at American Suzuki say "it
is not a Bandit" (I know cause the local rep rides one). Overall, I am very
satisfied with the bike. Coming off the 1125CR Buell it feels much heavier
but extremely "planted" in the fast corners up FM149. What I love about
it is that it just makes me want to "cruise in comfort" and "speed less".
I wanted something fast, simple, and comfortable. So far at 400 miles it
does all three and the inexpensive GIVI bags where a BONUS!!
