Howdy,

[Updated info]

:tab We are going to do the maintenance day 01/24/04. So far we have a few people coming in from out of town so our guest capacity is about maxed for overnighters staying with us. We might fit a few more.

:tab We will be doing chains, brakes, tires, electrics, etc,... Pretty much everything but engine internals. If you want to ship something to our house so you don't have to bring it with you, here is the address:

Scott & Beth Friday
1617 Woodland Lane
Huntsville, Tx. 77340

:tab Be sure to let us know it is coming so we can be looking for it.

[End updated info]

:tab Okay, so I have to put a new front tire on my bike. I was wiggling and squirming all over the road during the ride today ( 11/28 ). Sure it was cold, but the tire is just shot. I'm sure there are some other little items I need to pay attention to on the bike. So I volunteer my place again. We'll be moved back in within a few weeks. I'm thinking sometime after New Years? That will give folks time to order stuff. You can have it delivered to our home if you like and I'll hang on to it for you so you don't have to figure out how to get it here on the bike ;-)

:tab Comments, suggestions, questions?

I might try to come down as long as it's not the weekend of 17/18 Jan.

Time to start shopping for new tires.

Scott,
Any more thoughts on this? Kim gave me some Heli Bars for X-Mas. If your going to have a maint day soon I'll wait until then to put them on. Since you have first hand experience at installing them, I'd feel much more comfortable if I had some direct supervision when I make my install attempt.

Thanks.

Pete

Howdy,

:tab I was thinking of doing something in January, I just have not picked a weekend. My front tire has been changed, but now the rear needs changing. The brakes could use a little bleeding. I need to tear my bike down and give all the electrical grounds a good inspection and cleaning. I am getting a few electrical glitches that are making me worry. :-|

:tab I think the big issue for you guys will be the weather. It can be a little iffy this time of year. Do you have a trailer? We should have the guest room back together by then so you're welcome to stay here. Also, if you are going to be doing tires, you can have them shipped here so you don't have to bring them with you.

:tab Would the weekend of Jan 24th do for you? I am on call but that is not a big deal since we'll be here the whole time.

24th should work out well. I should be able to get a trailer if need be. Otherwise, Kim and I will ride down that morning.

Thanks.

Pete

I'm having my own "day" of sorts next week. Just ordered two Avon 45/46 tires, a bead breaker and a set of irons. It's also time to adjust the valves, synch the carbs, tighten the steering head, adjust the chain, bleed the brakes (maybe replace the pads too) and remove the bodywork to detail the whole bike. That ought to keep me busy for a while.

:tab Okay, I will plan on the weekend of the 24th. However, I will likely replace my rear tire before then so I can ride the bike in the meantime ;-) But I still need to check over the electrics :-(

:tab If anyone needs to have something shipped here, please let me know so I can look out for it to arrive. Our address is:

Scott and Beth Friday

By any chance will there be a tech day in Austin sometime in the near future... :)

I just purchased frame sliders for my bike and discovered that I do not have the correct tools to do the installation... :( If there is someone out there with experience in this dept. and can help, let me know.

Thanks.

Howdy,

:tab There is nothing to stop you from getting some Austin area folks together for a tech day! ;-) The only reason this one is in Huntsville because I need to work on my bikes and this is where I live  There are a lot of folks on this site that are from Austin and surrounding areas so I would think it would not be hard to get something organized. Just need someone to set it up.

Howdy,

:tab Just a reminder for anyone that is going to have anything shipped here. You will probably need to order stuff early Monday in order to get it here by next Friday unless you express ship it.

Howdy,

:tab As expected, the weather is looking a tad iffy for this weekend. However, I will still be here ready to work for anyone that is planning on coming. We will close up the garage to keep it heated. I have two full sized bike covers if we need to put any bikes in the driveway for space reasons while we are working.

Scott,
We are still planning on coming down. I'll have the whole family with me, so I'll be towing the VFR and i'm gonna bring Chris's KLX 110. It's running really suggish and I want a second opinion.

We should be there by about 10:00 Sat moring and we'll have to leave by 3:30 due to our kids social schedules.

See you then.

Pete

It will still be here. It's not going anywhere in the immediate future. Feel free to come on by and visit.

Hey Scott, since the weather is supposed to be bad Saturday (80% chance of rain...), is Sunday an option for you? Just wondering!! Sunday is supposed to be much nicer!

:tab Anyone that would like to come up Sunday is more than welcome. If the weather is fairly nice by mid afternoon, I may have to go riding though :-) Pete and Kim are coming Saturday for sure. They are trailering from Dallas and then heading right back up that same afternoon. Will and Paul are coming in Friday night, same for John. They will likely be here most of the weekend. Raul, the wife and twins are coming up Saturday without the bike just to meet other people and visit. I imagine the B.S. sessions will be a hoot Saturday ;-) There is another guy from Houston with an F2, Brian I think, but I am not sure if he is still coming or not. then there are just a host of other people that have said they plan on dropping in during the day Saturday just to visit, check out bikes, etc,... The garage might get a little crowded, but the rest of the house is pretty big and can hold a lot of people goofing off. So you are also welcome to come up Saturday in the cage and meet everyone.

Okay, be at our place by noon. We won't be doing a 400 mile butt burner ;-) Maybe just about 200 instead.

Scott, John, and Paul,

Thanks for the help today. I learned a lot. Wish we could have stayed longer. Chris was happy he made it to his party though.

John,
Once again. Good luck.

You all have fun riding on Sunday.

Howdy,

:tab Man, what a fantastic weekend! First we had a great time at the maintenance day, got tons of stuff done, and got to spend time with great folks. Sunday we logged about 270 miles of riding in some of the prettiest weather we've seen in a long time. I can't recall the last time I have seen so many bikes out in the area aroung Montgomery!! The place was jammed packed with cruisers, touring rigs, sportbikes... unbelievable. I've got bunches of pics (on my home puter) and I'll post them up in the Story Telling forum later.

Adios,
