Howdy,

:tab I have the day free before the Pie Run meet in College Station and plan to do some DS exploring. I will be heading Northwest generally, crossing the Navasota River a few times on some little backroads, then heading towards Hearn, across the Brazos River, down across the Little River into Caldwell and finally coming back into College Station from the West. I'll be leaving my house at 10:00am and will be in College Station 5:00ish so I have time to clean up before dinner and pie :eat3: Total mileage should be around 180, a good bit of that will be dirt, and potentially sand around the rivers. Knobbies would be nice for the sand but DS tires will do. There are a lot of creek and river crossings on the route so hopefully we'll stumble onto some cool old bridges.

:tab Be here with gas at 9:30am. We will leave at 10:00am sharp. We'll have lunch when/where the mood hits us. So you might want to bring a few snacks in case the mood never hits ;-)

:tab If you come up I-45, take Exit 116 and get on the feeder. Just after you get on the feeder, you will take the first right onto 19th Street. This is just after a plant nursery and before Ward's Furniture. Go to and through the first stop sign. At the second stop sign, take a left onto Ave S. Go two blocks and the road ends, you can only go right onto 17th St. Go up the half block hill and at the top of the hill, hang a left onto Woodland Lane. We are second (last) house on the right. Park across the street.

I'm in!

Tourances on the Strom. Hope the sand isn't too bad, but I'm not going to worry about it. Sand is soft when you fall in it, right? :help:

I should be there by 9:30, and I'll bring some granola bars or something.

:tab As dry as it has been, there is a good chance the sand will be deep and soft... The dilemma is that it is easier to stay upright if you go faster, but that makes it hurt more if you fall :lol2: You are NOT going to want to be carrying a ton of luggage on the bike!

Just the saddlebags and a camelback for this one. I don't even think I'll be filling the bags this time.

Scott:
Fairly short notice but it sounds interesting. The question I have is that if I truck to your house, the ride doesn't end there? On the other hand if I ride the DRZ to your house where does the ride end, College Station? How many slab miles are we talking from downtown Houston to your house and then home apart from your ride? I10 @ West Sam Houston Tollway to Scott's house is about 60 miles. Straight up I45 fro 610 (if the interchange is open) runs about 1:15, Beltway around to 45 North runs a little less.

The ride ends in College Station because tomorrow night is the last Pie Run of the year, and it's an overnighter out there. This is the first time (I think) Scott has posted a ride where the route doesn't end back at his abode.

Looks like about 120 slab miles apart from the ride from downtown? Are you hanging in College Station or going to Houston. I'm not sure my *** can sit on that seat that long without falling asleep?
I've just been informed that I have to drive #2 son or his girlfriend to an airport tomorrow so I have to bail.:-( It seems they booked return flights at the same time and from two different airports so I'm stuck driving one of them. No I didn't have anything to do with planning that deal.
I'll keep looking at this forum to see if I can catch the next one. Steve

Ummm...we won't talk about the bruises on my left thigh after the log jump! Take some good pictures, sorry I missed this one.
