I am in the looking/shopping mode for boots. My question is this, has anyone had problems with models that have side zippers/velcro closures vs boots without the side zippers/velcro closures (straight pull ons)? Too many choices out there to make an uninformed pick. Thanks in advance. :help:

Cycko Boots (First Gear) are 100% water proof. I've used them like rubber boots before.

Here's my son in a pair:

I have the Alpinestars Roam for two years. They are waterproof and warm in the winter. Never gotten my feet wet riding in the rain. Wonder how they would do standing in water like in the picture of Hacksaw's son. I just keep wondering.

I have been happy with my Sidi Champion Tepor boots (http://www.newenough.com/sidi_champion_tepor_boots_page.htm), they have velcro tabs but there is a flap which seals out the water, they are also great for walking in them. They kept my feet dry on the Marble Falls Hail (errr.....I mean Pie) Run. They are a shorter boot and work well in the office, I would image the taller ones would work just as well, the On-Road (http://www.newenough.com/sidi_on_road_sympatex_boots_page.htm) is pretty much the taller version.

The pair of Joe Rocket boots I wear were touted as water proof when I bought them several years ago. Riding in the rain for extended periods of time has never proven that statement wrong. I wore them as everyday wear for a long time with out harm, and they sport velcor closures on them. Only thing that has changed with them is some minor tread wear on the soles of them.

I use Oxtar Matrix boots when riding in cold and/or wet weather. Never had them leak on me, even when standing in the oceans during the coast-to-coast ride earlier this year. The only time I've had a problem is when water comes over the top of the boots.

Thanks to all for the info. found lots of different websites with a large difference in prices depending on brand/boot. Happy New Year!:rider:

Motorcyclecloseouts.com or newenough.com are usually pretty consistent for low prices. The Oxtars I got were from motorcyclecloseouts.com ...

My Joe Rocket Sonic boots are three years old and have been through many torential storms and still remain 100% water proof. I got them at New Enough Leathers for like $120.
