View Full Version : Pie Run I of 2006! Edom, TX 28 January

Where: The Shed in Edom, TX :eat3:
When: January 28th at 11AM
Why: Fabulous pie and fantastic roads!
Directions (as provided by dutchinterceptor):
From Palestine: Take FM315 to the left off of SR155 just north of the loop in Palestine. You can follow it all the way to FM279 where you will turn left and follow it into Edom(Shed will be on your right) OR you can turn left off of FM315 onto FM314 which will take you straight to Edom and dump you right into the Shed's parking lot.
From Rusk: Take FM 768 north into Jacksonville(lots of curves)....go north on US69 until you reach Mount Selman and turn left on FM855. Turn right on FM346....then turn left on FM344 and follow it north where it will turn into FM2661. Continue north until you reach SR64. Turn left on SR64 and then take an immediate left on FM279. This will take you straight to Edom(Shed will be on your right).
From Van/I-20: Take FM314 south until you dead-end into FM279....turn right and the Shed will be immediately on your right.
From Athens: Take FM317 east until you get to FM314.....turn left and follow it straight to the Shed.
From Canton: Wait.......don't go near Canton on the 28th....and definitely don't speed any where near the town...anytime. It's mecca for Highway Patrol.
Another "No Fly Zone" is a small construction area between Poyner and Chandler on FM315. The road is ok but LEO is definitely watching the construction zone.

Chris, I'll be glad to alert the Shed if needed.
Another note: THP has really been radar'ing everything in that area so you might want to be on your best behavior and bring your detectors!! Most everything in Van Zandt Co. is 60 mph especially Hwy 64!!
Oh yeah...I'll be there.

Chuck, is this it:
Actually, we modified it a bit last time. Here's the revised version:
Hwy287 to FM157 (Mansfield)
right to FM157 (stop in Venus)
south on FM157
left on FM875
right on buisiness 287 (W. Main Street) Waxahachie
left on Wyatt Street (FM878)
FM878 becomes FM 813
cross I-45 on FM 813
right on FM 660
right on Hwy 34
left on I45 (Ennis)
left on FM85/334
right on Hwy175
left on FM316
right on FM1861 to Martins Mill
right on FM858
left on FM 773
right on FM279 to Edom
Although, truth be told, I might hang a right off of FM 1861 and take FM 2339 straight into Edom this time. Either way should be good.
So who's putting the ride together from the Fort Worth/Arlington side of things?

Caleb, right? I think that I accounted for all three of the other Bandits! Crazy that there were 4 of them!
:welcome: Glad to meet you this evening in the Bandit Parking Lot!
Oh - the "Pie Runs" are very informal - just an excuse to get together for lunch and/or pie and meet with other riders that are usually from other places & ride a wide variety of bikes! The location changes each month but the "regulars" appear more often...

Radically different... The pie run premise is based around meeting at a fixed place for lunch/pie. No other stops are planned/required. You can join a big group, or a small group, or ride solo. The only place you really have to be around the rest of us is the destination.

Yes, I'm well aware (but still not sure if I'll be able to make it). I was referring to the ill-fated run to MF that had me leading a confused bunch and almost missing the group because we got there so late. Luckily, y'all waited around in the parking lot until we arrived so that we could snap a few group pics, then y'all left and we went inside and ate by ourselves. Oh well. It was a beautiful day and a nice ride anyway!
Oh, and here's a snapshot of the confused riders in Bastrop, right around the time y'all were sitting down for pie...

Hey Caleb, We will meet at the Shed at about 11:00AM, visit with the gang, and then have lunch (and/or pie). If you're interested, I'm leading a short ride after that. I'll probably use one of the routes (or a combination of them) that were posted by wczimmerman on the first post of this thread. The exact route will depend on whos riding with us (so far 3 interested) and the weather. Let me know!

Well, we always like to see you and listen to the ride stories. This one shouldn't be as far a Marble Falls. You need to meet the East Texas guys (and gals) - Jessica was asking last night (Longview M&G) about the females that ride & we tried to convince her that she wasn't always going to be the only one!

Just got my Ride Texas mag today, the one with all the Top 10 listings. In the "Top 10 Desserts" our next Pie Run location, The Shed in Edom, got #9. Come the 28th I think we should all raise our pie forks towards the kitchen in tribute to the hardworking staff who work so hard to have us coming back for more pie
Never thought much of Ride TX Mag but was Mosiers Restuarant @ Lake Fork listed in that top 10 rating? They are better than the Shed, IMHO.
None of it matters anyway because I'm now back on the Atkins diet (as of two days ago) because of some reckless abandonment at Mosiers last Sunday. It was brought on by some HM/Warm CHERRY PIE and ICE CREAM in a huge bowl combined with seeing myself on a TV interview on Monday with my gut hanging out.... I regress.

Useless Information:
The Shed is now under new ownership by the same people that have the bakery across the street. I've heard good and bad reports. My personal experience is that it hasn't changed much. They've just added a few decorations. The lady that was running it opened up a restaurant in Chandler called Maw's Kitchen I believe. Her husband had crashed on his Harley, had a bad head injury(no helmet), can't walk now, and barely function. Story has it that she coudln't take care of her husband and the restaurant so she sold the Shed and opened a new one?? Who knows.
