Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could point out some places to ride and camp in the North-East Texas area. I am relatively new to Texas, and TWT as well, so forgive me if I sound stupid.
Red River Motorcycle Park has a burn ban in effect due to the dry weather so there goes a evening campfire, further more you can't use a grill for cooking (needs to rain real bad:-( ). I have been to Rocky Ridge, great place:thumb: . I was just looking for something new is all.
In advance, I would like to say thanks for any advice and tips.

Here you go ;-)

A nice interactive way to search through all the Texas State Parks. The burn bans are in effect all over the place right now.
There are also a lot of nice camping areas in Southeast Oklahoma and In Arkansas.

There is a place called Shiloh Ridge in Alto, Tx. I have been a couple of times with the KLR and a bunch of dirt bikes. There are alot of pond/mudholes for the 4wheelers and big 4x4's, but there is also some trails and nice open riding for the bikes. We paid 35 bucks per motorcycle that included your campsite for all weekend. www.shilohridge.com
Later, Bryan Dolan
I have some pictures I can post of the place if you want.

Willy,
I am near Mckinney with a KLR. We are riding this weekend not far from home. Check the Chap trail thread in the DS forum. I could give you the tour of the local Collin county back roads some time too.

Cool! Very thoughtfull of you. I'm in Anna to be specific, not McKinney. Anna just isn't that big of a populated area for most people to recognize. I work in McKinney though, it's about twelve miles from my house.
I will check out the "chap trail" thread now.:rider:
Thanks man.:thumb:

I believe VFRJohn is also in Anna. There is a pretty large TWT contingent in that area. Many of them meet every Thursday in Plano for a bike night. Keep an eye on the Upcoming Events section for info.

Thank you Klrno2.
Since the holidays are behind, I am looking forward to getting know people better here. When I joined, it probably wasn't the ideal time. The good weather is just ahead though.
Anyway, Mr Klrno2 rides a KLR as well if I'm not mistaken.
Maybe a group from here can get in some trail miles in the near future.
Thanks again for the welcome.

This is the MR. Might I suggest the LBJ national Grasslands, miles of dirt/gravel roads lots of camping. NO OFF ROAD riding though, they are very rabid about that. There are some fee camping areas but are usually full of horses and riders. its free every where else.
The LBJ grasslands are located in the area just north of decatur tx, see our ride report posted in" after the ride". Maps are available at the ranger HQ on HWY 287 just a bit north of HWY 380.
check it out.

I'm also in McKinney, Tx........just picked up a little TTR125 and looking for a place to ride and camp with my family! We're familiar with most of the State parks around here, because we have a 20 ft trailer that we camp with alot, but don't know where we can camp and have access to dirtbike facilities also?? Any leads would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Bonham State Park is a nice little park. Don't know about DS places to ride, though.

Welcome Willy. You might be interested in Stonecreek riding park just south of Bells.http://www.stonecreekpark.org/
It's pretty close to you and the prices are good. I am up in Whitewright. We head mostly up to Oklahoma to play so my knowledge of where to ride in Texas is limited to the 75 corridor. :eek2:
