I would like to do the Chaparal Trail. I found a GPX file on GPSxchange ( http://www.gpsxchange.com/) of the trail but when I routed it on mapsourse it didn't look right.

This is a mid secrion of the Mapsource map and it looks like this, does this seem accurate ? Does anyone have a better GPS file I could load on a Gramin 276c ? Any suggestions ?

Bill,

There is one posted on the TexasDS yahoo group under the files section.

Let me know when you plan to do this ride. Hopefully I'll be free and can ride it with you. I've been wanted to try it for some time now and just have not had the chance.

Here is one I found ;-) that bypasses the high bridges and the Collin County "no motorized vehicle" marked portions.

Bill, use the "offroad" route calculation and NOT the "follow road". That should make more sense of the route. From the looks of it, you have Mapsource set to avoid unpaved roads in your preferences for routing.

I have yet to ride it, so I will be interested to hear your observations.

Post up your track when you get back to civilization. Active Log 002 from backspinnn source seems a bit different than the route I traced, but I understand some portions are closed to vehicular travel, which would explain the detours.

Great :-P

I'll be coming with another rider. We will trailer from Arlington. See you there.
