It all started a couple of weeks ago when I was looking on-line at some one man tents. I narrowed the possibilities down to a couple and put the thought on a back burner. Then out of the blue the next day when RockmanTex (http://www.twtex.com/forums/member.php?u=858) posted that he had two tents for sale, one of them being one of my top picks from the previuos days searching. Woohoo.
After a couple of e-mails it was decided that I would come down and pick up the tent. RockmanTex (http://www.twtex.com/forums/member.php?u=858) lives in Bryan and my mother lives in College Station sounds like a good enough excuse for a road trip to me.
Now fast forward a couple of nights later and your standing in the Two Wheeled texans chat room. This chat went like many others. Here's an example.
You ridin this weekend?
You bet!!
Where?
Don't know yet.
Hey, I'll be in the area this weekend.
Cool!
Wanna ride!
yee ha I'm pumped, where we going?
This is not an exact transript of the conversation and it included three or four people and four or five different discussions in between, but this gives you an idea.
Anyway it was arranged that dbdolan and myself would meet at Tourmeister's house as I passed through town and we would ride east on dirt to get me close to College Station.
As with many good rides this one started early and cold. 35 degrees at my house in Sherman and 230 or so miles to go. I'll spare you the boring details and just hit on the highlight.
My fingers got cold
I had cold fingers
I could not feel my fingers
I put in my glove liners
Ahhh, warm fingers
cool fingers
cold fingers
I could not feel my fingers
Stopped at Whataburger south of Dallas for Breakfast and to regain feeling in my fingers. Got back on the road and got to Huntsville with all 10 fingers and gad a quick lunch. Found our fearless leaders house and dbdolan was already there. A quick potty break and we hit the dirt.
The ride was great. Nice pace, nice wet sandy roads, nice twisties.

To make this an official ride we stopped at a couple of cemeteries,

To make this a memorable ride I lost my license plate and the second we turned around to find it I broke my clutch cable.

Not to fear though, I had a spare clutch cable and zip ties and twenty minutes later we were on the road again.
At our pit stop shortly before the license plate/clutch cable misshap we met another KLR rider named Kenneth. Bikes were talked about, stories were swapped and a twtex.com card was handed out and we were on our way.

Kenneth's bike is the 94 on the left.
It was a great day. I made a couple of new riding buddies and topped it off with an Aggie baseball game with my mom. Here are a few shots taken from nosebleed with my point and shoot.
