If you've got a ST1300, or are interested in one, you might want to check out my "modifications" page. I do reviews, complete with pics, of all the modifications I've done. See them here:

SWEET!!!! I love the sound of the bike with the unbaffled Staintunes! :dude: I sure would like to hear it in person! Nothing like the sound of the V4. During our maintenace day last weekend, we had the pipes off both of our VFR 800's and fired them up. The neighbors probably weren't real happy for about a minute, but those of us present were grinning from ear to ear. You really need to hear it to appreciate it. Gives me goose bumps, hehe.
Adios,

Yes, one of the things that I really like about the Staintunes is that the restrictors can be removed or replaced in about 2 minutes, even when the pipes are hot. Without the restrictors they're a bit too loud for an all-day ride, but it sure is fun to make a little noise during a quick run through the countryside :-D

Welcome to the site, Jack. It is obvious you enjoy your toys and have quite a website. BTW, is that Viper part of your parsonage?!
Don't forget to add TWT to your favorites page. We need to spread the word, you know.

I was driving the Viper when I was in a previous career. I left for the ministry, and so did the Viper. Not ministerly, you know. I now have the TWT site linked in my "favorite links" page.
I like the wide glide pictures. If I had a harley, I'd get a used one of those. Nice site!

The Dyna Wide Glide was a nice bike, but after riding your Viffer you'd feel like you were dragging an anchor behind you('')

Nice bike ya got there, Jack. The ST1300 really intrigues me. 8)
Unfortunately, I'm not getting any audio file links. The pages load, but there's no sound or additional selection to bring up the clip. Anybody have a suggestion?

Hi, Paul--
Hmmm...I've had almost 1,000 hits on that page and you're the first to report that the sound files don't play. The files are .wav files and are set to play when you open the page. It takes a while for them to load (5-6 seconds broadband). If you really want the files I can email them to you.

Tried a couple of different browsers and still couldn't get any sound. :?
If it's no trouble, go ahead and e-mail the file to me at paulmassie@sbcglobal.net.
Just the Staintune w/o the baffle will be sufficient. Thanks!
I am wanting to get the staintune high mount for my bike, I am just having trouble convincing myself that the sound is worth 500 bucks. Do the tunes offer deeper sound than other aftermarket pipes?
I have found some Two-bros and D&D pipes on ebay, but I am kinda weary about buying stuff off there.
As far as the wide glide, I first rode the VFR back in August and knew I had to sell my first bike to get one. The wide glide I would hope would have a bit more oomph than a 750 shadow. Maybe not, because I have never actually ridden one. My buddy at work has a cbr f3 with more aftermarket parts on it than stock. When I rode that it definately was hard to go back to the shadow.

Staintune exhausts aren't known for providing an especially deep tone, but they do sound nice. Best thing about them is the very high build quality, along with the ability to run with or w/o the removable restrictor, giving you the option of having a nice-sounding, fairly quiet bike, or one that's a little rowdy - your choice.
For a really sweet-sounding exhaust, you can't hardly beat the Two Brothers C-5 can; that's the biggest one they make. I've heard them mounted on Triumph triples, Honda inline-fours and V-fours, and had a pair of them mounted on my Ducati 750 V-twin. I didn't like the poorly-designed mounting hardware that came with them, and it took a lot of tweeking and fitting to achieve a more-or-less secure attachment, but boy did they sound good!
My theory on deep-toned cans is that it's mostly a function of the length and total volume of the cannister. It seems that the bigger the can is, the deeper the resonant frequency will be. You really only get the deep tone at idle and low rpm anyway; once the motor spins up, the cylinder volume, bore/stroke ratio and timing of the exhaust pulses determines more how the motor sounds.
And yes, I've spent waaay too much time, thought and money on this subject.

Let us not forget the spine tingling sound of the VFR without ANY pipe!! :dude: I'm sure my neighbors still remember
Adios,
Another thing is I just like the polished look of the staintunes more than the others, I guess carbon fiber look. D&D pipes are obnoxiously loud to me. I may look into the 2bros. Thanks for the input.

:tab We have the C5 2Bros and stainless headers on Beth's 98 VFR. You are welcome to come by and check it out. IT will be a little louder than a new system. This one has about 27K miles on it so it is getting a little bit louder now ;-) Saturday we are going to be just goofing off and hanging out at the house. A few other folks are comign up and we are gonna do a fire out back, have some brews, eat some homade chicken & dumplings curtesty of Paul "Scratch" Massie, and generally do nothing. Feel free to come by., same for anyone else looking for something to do.

FYI - Anybody planning to come over should post an RSVP here by 3:00 p.m. Saturday so that I know how many people to cook for. Otherwise, you'll have to duke it out at the end of the chow line just to see who gets to lick the spoon!
I already have plans for Valentine's Day. Maybe next time :) Thanks for the invite though. :chug:

Oh yeah... I better go get something. I hate Valentine's Day.
Adios,
I'll third the Two Brothers pipe. I have a C4 aluminum can on my Speed Triple and it sounds great.
