I've been looking around for some soft luggage (saddlebags mainly) for two-up touring. It looks like most saddlebags flop over the rear pillion, right where you-know-who's you know-what would sit. :moon:

Anyone have any recommendations for soft saddlebags that are compatible with a passenger? (target bike: '97 BanditS)

Thanks,

I have a set that go over the seat - and have gone two up in that configuration. I've got the Cortech bags by Tourmaster. The over-seat straps are wide, and have a foam pad under them to protect the bike, then again the rear seat of an SV650 isn't exactly comfortable to begin with, so I doubt any decrease in comfort is noticed.

On my Nighthawk the straps for the Joe Rocket bags fit under the seat. We put a different brand on my daughters shadow (Ican't recall what brand) and they fit under the seat also. The only catch is I have to take the seat off to remove the bags. My daughters bike has bags that zip off.

Good Luck

Most all soft saddlebags are going to go over that part of the seat but there is no reason a passenger can't sit on the straps. I had some Motoport bags that had a single wide suede strap that was probably more luxurios than the vinyl seat. Just try to find something with a single wide strap for greater comfort.

If you-know-who's you-know-what isn't comfortable sitting on the straps, cover them with a towel or a sheepskin seat pad.

For starters, have you even ASKED your passenger how she feels about wearing saddlebags?

Actually, that began as a serious suggestion about strapping luggage to your passenger if she doesn't want to sit on bag straps, but then the mental image took on a life of it's own.
