Bummer. Working on the weekend stinks. But on the other hand, a cust. of mine told me supposedly MArshall creek is undergoing a bit of retooling. Please post up after your ride and let me know if the works started yet or just another rumor.

Albie:

Thanks for the invite, but at $2.75/gallon I'm not terribly keen on the 3hour each way drive. I'll either head to Muenster or maybe use thses drag race tickets. :)

Marshall Creek is the closest place I have to ride (25 mi.) from my house. I stopped by there Sunday afternoon after picking up the KX. Weekends out there suck. There are way too many people running every-which-way, really high chance for a head on. The place is a bit small for the weekends, but it is open 365 days a year.

I went back Monday morning and had the place all to myself. It was nice and a little more open feel to it.

The place has sand, small whoops, lots of berms, and a good selection of jumps.

There was evidence of some new trail work down by the boat ramp, but when I was ripping through them, I was stopped my a public safety officer and he informed me that there was no riding allowed on that side of the park. I didn't argue, but it is not posted.

The entrance fee is $3/person and $5/bike or ATV. No 4X4 trucks allowed.

I will probable plan to head out there Friday morning and try out the new suspension settings on the KX.

Cheers

MZ:

I have been out there. It's an ok place to piddle around in. The cust. in question was yammering on about one way marked trails, new trails, etc. Being close in I really hope this goes thru. Being a city run facility however...

One thing I can tell you is " DO NOT RIDE ON ANY ASPHALT". P.O. haunt around and will happliy nab you for a tidy little ticket for doing so...and anything else they can find. Maybe they just bitter to have to work watching us out having fun?

Lots of folks I know ride south of ftw at a couple different mx parks. I'd love to give it a go myself. If I could imagine an xr flying thru the air with anything resembling ease. Heh. When you can make meunster lemme know and maybe we can split the gas bill sometime. I'm on the westside.

Faisal:

I'll let you know if the parts come in in time to go. I ordered two of everything I bent or lost. Running the pace I did with Boom on sat. was great! We had done 33 miles by the time we ran afoul of your group. I'd like to do that all the time. (No offense to your slow group of course. :-P)

Barnwell, Marshall Creek,... Where are these places? I'm looking for some new close places to ride. Any links, or additional info/directions? I've also heard about rocky ridge (?), or something like that. Anyone ever been there?

Barnwell isn't close, it's out in East TX. Marshall Creeks fairly close. Rocky Ridge is close to Red River. It's pretty good, just not very big.

Marty, looks like I'm in for Sunday now. Got to work Saturday.

Big Roach, to get to Rocky Ridge, go up 35 to Sanger, take 455 west. Keep going just past Slidel and turn right on 51 and head northeast about 4 or 5 miles. You will see a large sign on the left: "Rocky Ridge". Pretty nice area, not as large as Red River area but some good variety. The Red River area is up north of Muenster near Bulcher. Take 82 West from Gainesville to Muenster and head north towards Bulcher......can't remember that road's #.

Rocky Ridge - Sanger, TX

Rocky Ridge

Turn right on FM 51 Go 2- 3 miles, the riding area is on the left. There is a sign for the Ranch by the road, and you can see motorcycle tracks coming out of a gravel pit down by the road.

Loyd

Brake pads: check.
Shift lever: check +1
Control levers: check +1
Oil and asst. crap: check.

Now then, if the alarm rings as planned I'll be there much earlier than 9am. I wanna get a head start up I35 to avoid the nascar herd.

See joo kids in the am. :rider:

I think after this I need to look into pulling her apart and properly lubing the chassis and stuff. Anyone got a manual for an xr400 I can gander at?

What a day! Someone absolutely boogies for a new guy. Later in the day, whilst trying new shift technique, I think I singlehandedly qualified as the posterboy for "wear your gear"! What I wouldn't give for access to a hottub and someone to fetch me some of those umbrella drinks about now...

Giddy Up! It was a great day out there. I just hated I had to cut out early, but it pays the bills........

I enjoyed riding with you! Get that bike put back together and lets get back out there.

Fun ride as always. At first I said I'll count the number of kicks it took loweed to start the bike after a spectacular getoff, after 10-20 I lost count, need a computer to keep track  then I would point to my 2 stroke and the first kick would start her up while getting the customary one fingured salute from loweed :lol2: But seriously, dude your riding has improved by leaps and bounds, get that 2 stroke bike and it will be hard to keep ya in sight.

Tom, it was great seeing you enjoy the KX. Time to run an enduro dude, keep 5/7 in mind for Cycleland.

The KX is a blast! It will get better with more play time......

I will not be able to make the Cycleland Enduro, it is looking like I will be in Baja.

I have cleared up my calendar for the Red River Enduro. It should be a fun first Enduro.

Cheers,

tp

Hey girls, sorry I could not hook up with you on Saturday, but had to cut down a tree in the front yard and do some landscaping.
sunday riding was GREAT !! The YZ jetting is fixed! I used the same jetting as the WR and all my problems are DONE! It will even kick over on the first kick and second kick when hot. No more bubbling over when doing the tight stuff as well! SO when are we going to ride!

aah yes and it was a BEAUTY!!!

After trying to climb this ruddy hill 4 times I decided to just give it gas! needless to say half way up the hill the front wheel came up vertical, and it was one of those moments in life when all you can say is" oh **** !!!!!" threw the bike off to the side before it 360'd on top of me.

Better luck next time I thought. Cruise to the bottom and crank it all the way to the top....I made it.. ya beauty! only to turn left at the top loose my footing and fall over most specatularly!!!

Still what a great day riding with no broken parts and a few bruises to show the escapades!!
