I have some photos I would like to use in a new thread by uploading from My Documents. They are too large to upload. How can I reduce them?

The way I have done it before is going through hotmail. If you have a Hotmail account, you can attach pictures to an email addresssed to yourself, and they reduce them way down automatically. Then you save those as a reduced size of the original and you can post those.

Note that you cannot directly upload files of any size to a twtex.com thread. However, folks here seem to like imageshack.us (http://imageshack.us/), which is a free hosting site that looks like it can resize when you upload, or perhaps provide different sizes of the image.
Personally, I like Smugmug (http://www.smugmug.com), because you can upload the original and it will provide different sizes for you to link to in a post, it is pretty slick, and I'm ok with paying for resources I use. ;-)
Hope this helps...
I use a free utility called Irfanview. Then I just enter 520 in the pixel dimensions on the resizing feature.

okay so this is all I got when I pasted from photos I uploaded to photobucket. So how do you make this image show w/o having to click on it

Well now it shows as a thumbnail too?

When you open photo bucket you see your images in thumbnail with three different lines beneath them.
Click into the one that starts with [IMG] and it will highlight it. Then right click and copy that name and paste it into your post and the image should appear.

In Photobucket click on the img tag below the picture you want to post and copy the tag. Then just past it into your post. it should automatically add the [img] at the front and rear. Once you post the message, the photo should appear.

If you're a winders user Microsoft Photo Editor will do it. Right click on the photo and choose, "Open with..." Once open, choose "save as" and save it as another name so you don't accidently overwrite the original. Then, right click on the photo, choose Properties. Change from whatever dpi it is to 72 dpi (all you need for web viewing). Next, click Image, resize, change units to "pixels" and resize down to twtex's limit (632 or something weird like that)

Getting closer, but make sure the cursor isn't in the middle of a word/sentence/paragraph when you do it.
Cool bridge pic, though!

I never cared for it because downsizing photos seemed to produce more distortion than with Irfanview.

You guys are official Lifesavers. (Guess you already knew that, Medic.) I've been looking for a batch conversion program for cheap/free. IrfanView looks like it'll work great. Thanks!

Irfanview rocks! It can do a lot of really cool stuff and is really easy to use. The thumbnail feature is most useful for finding images and managing them. "T".

It's smaller than I thought. I think photobucket will let me increase it.

I herd paramedics (it's kind of like herding cats) and push paper these days, but thanks anyway.
