Okay, so we are going to have a runoff vote for the mascot. It is between Dillo and TWiT.

Initials for Two Wheeled Texans, with a vowel thrown in. Oops, spanked by Chirpy.

As for the T-shirt, how 'bout "I'm with TWiT"

I originally voted for Luchenback. We coulda called him "Lucky" for short-

Imagine the ensuing hilarity in these threads & t-shirts
"I got Lucky in..."
"I got Lucky with...."

Diggers1300 asked about TWiT's girlfriend. I think her name would be TWeeT.
"Hey, which 'dillo is that, TWiT or TWeeT?"

In the event of a tie, we could combine TWiT and Dillo, however, every combination I come up with has unfortunate phonetic results.

This may be a bit premature, but some suggestions for "Twillo (thanks, wabbit) Tag" rules:
1. No tag-backs
2. Minimum 24 hr "hold time" (before tagging next victim)
3. No tagging within a ride group in the same ride

I really should find something to do...

Is there a picture of the mascot somewhere?

Personally, I would rather be called a Dillo than a TWiT?

Also - what does the 'i" stand for?

You all also realize that a twit is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as an annoying person...? Do we belong in that category?

CycleCat
05-01-2006, 03:25 PM
The name doesn't describe us. It is the name of the stuffed armadillo that has been chosen as our traveling ambassador. I'll go find the picture. It's here somewhere.

EDIT: OK. I think I found the little bugger. I think this is him. Looks like a TWiT to me.

http://bluedogok.com/twt/dillo-sm.jpg

By the way, the "i" doesn't standfor anything. It's just a connector to make the TWT initials into a word. But if it really bothers you, you could say it stands for "internet"... as in Two Wheeled internet Texans. But be ready to get funny looks from the rest of us when you say it that way!

I actually like Twit, but voted for Dillo and here is why:

I listen to a pod cast called “This week in Tech”. (Twit) Geeky people may remember the guy that runs TWiT, Leo Laporte, formerly of TechTV and G4.

Anyway, in another forum I belong to, I mentioned what a good pod cast TWiT is for people interested in tech. I immediately got laughed at. Apparently TWiT also stands for a publication called “This Week in Texas” which reported on happenings around Texas for gay people.

So since there are other associations with TWiT, I went with Dillo.

:tab I have been shopping for armadillos. The one we have is too big I think. I tried contacting a place that makes custom action figures that are posable. Can't get them to respond. I have canvased the local Toys R Us and they just don't seem to have any generic action figures that are not some kind of WWF or some other nonsense. Anyway, I have NOT forgotten this ;-)

Okay. Dillo wins.

Thank goodness!

A TWiT is a silly, annoying, ineffectual, and/or imbecilic person, typically English. Examples can be found in the Monty Python sketch Upper Class Twit of the Year:

Good thing you added the "typically English" part, or I would have thought you were describing Congresscritters.

Just to throw out a idea... What about Woody from the toy story movies as our mascot? I know he is a Pixar baby. At least he would be plastic... Any other ideas??

You can have any action figure made to your specs for a little change. I know of three companies that make small plastic figures, if you send a technical drawing. It's probably not in our price range, but I'd be willing to look into it, and post some answers if interested.

Darrell, that would be great. I tried contacting one place for that and they never would get back to me.

Danny, they are not posable. We want something with movable limbs.

I think I need to go into the TWTEX Merchandising business. Key fobs, koozies, plastic cups, action figures, pens, hats, stickers, oh yeah, and one of those big foam fingers to wear while riding as a group. HAHA. Joking.

I'll do a search for all the info on the action figures when i get into work Monday, and try to have some soild answers by that evening.

An armadillo action figure. Posable limbs? Would that look something like the Mutant Ninja Turtles?

I found another armadillo that looks neat, but, a bit pricey:
