It was nice out, so I had to go somewhere...

I decided to just do a solo jaunt that basically reversed the route some TWTers took at our recent Wimberley breakfast meet.

Leaving Round Rock, I took some little country roads that aren't particularly fast, but very pleasant, scenery-wise.

This dumped me out on one road (Parmer Rd.) where I wound up behind a nice black Dodge Viper at a stop light.

Now, one of the things I like best in moto-riding is having a stoplight on a road that has a decent speed limit, as it allows me to wick it up fairly legally.

As the Viper's brake lights went off, with the light still red, I got the sense that he was gonna take off and show me his V-10 stuff. "What the hey," I thought, "let's just see if me and my wittle V-2 can at least keep up."

Disclaimer: this was not a drag race, just two guys in a hurry to get on down the road. I had no intention or desire to pass the guy, just to see how the relative acceleration went.

So, the light turned green, and he pulled away fairly strongly. I let out the clutch, and quickly shifted to 2nd, since the Futura has a very short 1st gear, imho.

I had to back off a little bit, as I was gaining on him.

As he shifted, his rear end broke loose the slightest bit, so to be fair, it did take a few tenths for him to hook back up. He pulled away a tad, but all it took was a short wait for my revs to get me to keeping up.

Then, we both shut down the acceleration, since we were hitting the speed limit about that time.... mwahahahahahahaha...

It was a nice reminder of the kind of exoticar performance one can get with a moto...for 1/6 to 1/15 the price... :chug:

Anyway, I tooled on over to Old Spicewood Springs road (twisty, but slow, but again, scenic), then off to Bee Cave (2244?) to 71 to Hamilton Pool Rd. to 12 to Dripping Springs.

At Dripping Springs, I took the Creek Road (aka River Road) over to 165, which I never get tired of, and made my way down to the Sunset Restaurant, where I had yet another nice lunch (chicken pot pie, delicious).

After that, it was gas up, and head down 281 to 473 back to the Devil's Backbone, on to Wimberley, up 12, and back the way I came.

What a nice day. The Viper was pretty, too, for such a poor performer... :-P

Yeah, right!

It was a bee-you-tee-full day in east Texas too! 8-)
Scott and I got out and tooled around for a little while. Took a few pictures with my new digital Canon, and as soon as I can figure out how to do it, I'll post a couple.
