Next weekend 6/2 -6/4 i'm riding up to Arkansas with my parents. They will ride around on the pavement while I find some trails. Does anyone know anything in the Talimena Parkway area that is good for dual-sport riding? Also, if anyone is going to be up there on those days and wants to ride, let me know, it would be fun to ride with someone else.

I kow about the Talimena Parkway. I dont know about Dual sporting it though.
Its a nice ride on the pavement. The only thing you need to watch for is the pavement switch when you cross into Arkansas. YOu will notice the pavement changes color from a dull grey in Oklahoma to a brown color in Arkansas. The Arkansas side is pretty loose in some of the corners. It appears to be some kind of chip seal.
Take a camera there is a lot of good spots for pictures.
This spot below is on the Arkansas side. Its not quite as fun as it looks because of the loose surface but it is still pretty nice.

Drew:
The Indian Nations Trail runs through the area. I know some folks tha have ridden it from Talimena State Park over to Muse and back. The only time I went with them we got 2 inches of rain and had to turn back at one of the stream crossings.
I am trying to get a copy of the GPS track. I will post it when I do.
There are a BUNCH of old logging roads between Talihina and Clayton.

My family and I are going to be camping at Billy camp ground this weekend its between talahia <SP> and muse. The Ouachitaw national forest is chocked full of dual sport roads. I know of a few in the area, I hunted there as a kid. I have been wanting to ride the parkway.

The first time I went up there with my wife I was playing catch the rabbit on the whole road a few guys were about half way through on cruisers when we went into that section. I may have cut across the double yellows a little taking inside lines and I could feel my wife close her eyes and squeeze me REAL hard with her legs. The next day she was given the option to bypass the drive and she said no, she wanted to do it again.

That gps track would be great, thanks.
If anyone wants to ride up or meet up there we are leaving from Plano around 2 pm on Friday. Just let me know if you are interested.

Here is what I have. There are two tracks ...
One is mostly trails with a single oops at one wrong turn.
The other is mostly roads where they really got lost.
Hope they help.

Sorry in advance for the stupid newbie question, but is there software available that can be used to read (display) your muse.gdb file? I downloaded EasyGPS but it doesn't recognize that filetype. I don't have a reciever yet and was just curious to look at what you guys are doing!

That is a Garmin file and I think you need topo to open it.
I love that road, slippery rocks and funky surface and all.
I wanna go back.....(Eddie Money song)
