I've been working nights for the last two and a half weeks. The project at work wil be going on for at least another month. Unfortunately, I have not seen much of my wife and three year old son during this time. I can tell he has been anxious to see me. Anyway, my wife sent me this email tonight to let me know what Caleb prayed for at bedtime. It broke my heart.
Tonight's prayer:
"God, I need a girl so that I won't get nervous when mommy and daddy can't play with me and I will have a baby sister to play with. So, God, please send a baby sister. Amen."
We've been trying for another child for a while. It took a while last time. Please pray that it happens soon for us. Also pray that I will have the focus to spend every waking minute with my little boy.
Thank you.

Good luck. I had the opportunity to work for a drilling company when I graduated from A&M. The pay was unbelievable and so were the benefits. The bad part was being away all the time. I decided no amount of money was worth missing out on soccer, Cub Scouts, etc. When you get some free time from work, enjoy every minute with your family. That's what life is all about. My son wants us to have a little brother for him. The only catch is that he wants one the same age as him...

Consider it done!
My wife and three sons are at our home in Arizona while I work here. It sucks, but it is necessary.
I'll be going back for a visit this weekend. Prayers for a safe journey would be appreciated.
God bless,

My wife and I had two boys and suffered several misscarriages. God speed on #2 (don't be surprised if it turns out to be another boy - seems to be a trend).
How old is Caleb?

:tab There are times when I find myself getting wrapped up in my own world and then I hear Sarah running around the house. One benefit of being an older (nearing 40) parent is that I really appreciate how fast time goes by now. That really motivates me to change my priorities and spend more time with her even if I might have other things I could be doing. Work is a toughie. You have a duty to provide for your family as much as you do to spend time with them. It is not always easy to find balance. However, I firmly believe that as long as your kids know you really love them and that they are important, they can go through a lot and still come out great.
:tab We totally understand the frustration with the miscarriages. We've had three. And then we'd see something crazy in the news like the lady that had her baby out at the Texas World Speedway in the restroom and left it in the trash to die, or that a baby was found in a dumpster a few blocks from our house near a SHSU dorm. It is tough to deal with. We finally got Sarah after 5 years. This second kid kind of took us by surprise, hehe.
:tab Stress plays a large but not well understood part in getting pregnant. Of course, knowing that does not take away any of the stress! I cannot tell you how many people we'd meet that said they were having the same problems as us. When they finally gave up hope and had consigned themselves to not having a child and had gone on with their lives and other plans... they turned up pregnant! We had pretty much given up and made new plans ourselves. Then Beth told me she was pregnant with Sarah two days after I flew out to Colorado and dropped $14K on a BMW R1150GS...
:tab I hope it works out for you. Sacrificing for the kids is worth it.

Yep... sounds like you need to be spending more time at home. Time to make it a priority!
I'll pray that you can do that...
