About 6 months after buying my BMW 1200RT, the realization hit me… I would never like the stock seat. Tried the Bill Mayer modification for about 6 months, they reworked it for me, then I gave up on "his" idea of a good seat and sold it. It was worse than the stock if you can believe that.

Next, I tried a Corbin (Sargent too expensive). Hard like a metal tractor seat, but supported in all the correct places. The seat offered great support and was comfortable for the most part. Did I mention it was hard? That said, the seat was wide in front and the bike so tall, on long trips the inside of your legs would get start getting raw because no “give” in the seat. Finally, 6 years later, I decided to try the Sargent. (Yes, I am a little slow)

The Sargent is great. Same great support of the Corbin, but softer. Goes to show, I should have just spent the money I was trying to save in buying the other choices. In the long run, it would have been money better spent and I would have been much more comfortable over the years. On the bright side, sold the Corbin for what I paid for it and only lost about $50 on the Mayer deal.
