1-2-3 Farm To Market Roads in Sequential Order Game!

Duke, on google sites looks like you'll need to use html for your image links instead of vbcode.

Working on it now. Basically I just copied and pasted Post#1 for place holding purposes right now, so I can actually see the full length text of the links so I can start uploading it.

What would the HTML code be for an image. Right now I am having to "INSERT -> Image -> Select Web Address ->past link, and wait for it to find it.

It should look something like this:

<a href="http://s69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/wstecker/Family/?action=view&current=DSC07442.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/wstecker/Family/DSC07442.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Photobucket provides the html for each image. I'm guessing smugmug does the same.

OK... This Google Web Builder is easier than using MS Word or Powerpoint!

I am at work right now so I haven't spent too much time on it, but I am getting the hang of it.

So, suggestions / comments? What do you want to see on it, any special requests?

I will dedicate some time to it over the next couple of days and hopefully have it as a working product.

looks nice already! im glad y'all changed the rules a little. i was going to play too until people started posting they already had all the roads in my area! what is the point if people already got them in advance. maybe i can play again.

Wow! I'm away for a couple of days and changes abound. The website will certainly help keep things from getting unwieldy as we get more and more roads. Has anybody been able to contact the Lubbock area riders about getting 54?

Ok... I have modified Post #1 by taking the pictures out of it. I know it is a dramatic change to the thread, but I felt it more efficient, meaning less redundant. This way the pictures are only loaded when someone wants to look at them by visiting the web site, which is functional now.

I have included this link in Post #1

Please see this web page that has been created to view achievements thus far in the game.

Keep having fun all of you, and remember. If someone gets a road sign before you that you planned on getting. So Be It! You Snooze You Lose!

Are we still waiting on FM54? If so, I can go get it on Christmas Day. Have nothing better to do that day, with the family in Texas and me in New Mexico.

I find it interesting that there seems to be such a big hurry on these when one sits undone for more than a few days. Not that it matters much really but does the word "patience" mean anything to anyone? There are folks in the Panhandle planning to get 54, but it may take a day or two. If you all want to rush out to flat, boring roads just to get one silly picture instead of seeking out more fun and interesting rides closer to where you are, then knock yourselves out. But as I stated in the Panhandle thread, "the world is not going to end nor the website go into vapor lock if we don't get the picture in a timely manner."
Or; maybe I missed the rule in the first post that said we have to get the next picture right now! Please fogive me if I have overlooked that part.

But hey, it's your time, fuel, money; do as you please.

I think people just want to keep it moving. I have lots of time to ride right now, if the weather would cooperate, and I'm sure others do too. This is an excuse to ride after all.

True it is an excuse to ride, and a darn good one at that. But there is one other thing that should be considered. What if the person saying they will get it in a day or two really wants to participate but has limited time, job or family obligations that dictate when they can go? And it could also be that they are somewhat tied down to their own area by those same factors. When someone from farther away gets impatient, they have the potential to diminish the fun for that person who maybe doesn't have the same amount of time & freedom to drop what they are doing instantly or even in a few days to go get that picture. In that case, it quits being fun for those with the limited time and they are less likely to want to be a part of it. Once again I'll say everyone is free to do as they please and all roads are fair game for everyone but think about what you may take away from someone else in the process. And isn't this suppose to be fun for everyone, not just those who have more freedom and more time on their hands?

Cruisin, I get it, you got trumped the other day, but it shouldn't be coming to this. I am sorry that we are still dwelling on it. I assure you that how FM48 was got is entirely in the spirit what I envisioned when this started. I do not see it as anyone one being impatient or otherwise.

Their are over 3000 more opportunities for any and all to participate. I truly hope that we have many more people join in on the fun and hope that they will still want to participate even if a road they want to grab is grabbed by someone else. Whether that person who grabs the road is 1 mile or 850 miles away from it.

Can we please let it go? I think by now everyone has clearly heard how you feel. I personally feel that there was no harm done and I am happy that the road sign was grabbed which permitted several others to post up the road signs that they had in waiting. To me that is the bigger issue at hand, to wait too long for a road to get grabbed, and this game/challenge loses momentum. Afterall, the original post on this thread was from April 2006! We got more accomplished in the last 6 weeks than we did in over 2 years. I think that we are now finally making forward progress.

Please don't take that I am being disrespectful or trolling for an argument. I appreciate what you have been able to contribute and I look forward to actually meeting you one day. I just wanted to clear the air so to speak, from my perspective and close this chapter and move forward.

Honestly all I do not care that I got trumped. I was merely offering to help in response to the plea in the Panhandle section. All I'm saying is that the apparent impatience by some has the potential to take away some of the fun for others. I don't think that having to wait a until a person has had the chance to go get a picture is going to kill the thread. If someone says they may have the time to do it on a Thursday and then someone else gets impatient and goes to get the road on Tuesday or Wednesday they have not been very courteous to that other person the least they could do is wait to see if that first responder actually gets to do it on Thursday. That's all I'm saying with no hidden meanings or agendas; it's about courtesy and patience.

But you know what; since this seems to be more an exercise in instant gratification of having beat someone else to a prize then it may not be for me.

Y'all have fun . . .
