Little Family DS Trip to East Texas

Me, my wife, little son and my twin Bro KosmicKLR did a little campout and dual sport ride to Angelina National Forest in East Texas October 15th. This was after East Texas was pillaged, plundered, and laid to waste by hoards of marauding dual sport riders! Just kidding!

KosmicKLR from RideDualSport.com rode out from Austin, I hauled the DR650 and my family out in the Silverado. We did a few hours of noodling around the back roads, and its quite pretty with all the pine trees about, the weather a perfect 80's clear, and no humidity. Was surprised to find East Texas dotted with numerous family cemeteries, no doubt many the family landowners that harvested timber. Very glad I could finally make this trip and get some of the local flavor of East Texas! We also ran into some awesome BBQ which made it even better.

Boykin Springs Campground, featuring a small family cemetery. What a life folks had over a hundred years ago, living from the land.

I think some poltergiests were around....halloween is not far off.....

Sand Hill cemetery, aptly named. Plots are just $100. What a beautiful place to rest, tho I think I want to be cremated. OK, so enough with the cemeteries, you get the idea.

Me and my little guy on his first official camping trip. Lots of fun making sure he did not fall off the side of the camp ground into the stream, play in the poison ivy, or fall into the camp fire. Never a dull moment.

Newly planted long leaf pine, the original East Texas pine tree that was completely logged out. Now the US Forest Service and private land owners are re-introducing them to the area.

Hey what is that sound! Little Emile perks up because KosmicKLR is arriving!

KosmicKLR rides up to greet us from Austin. He enjoyed a peaceful ride on the back roads with little traffic and great weather.

We hit the sandy county roads of East Texas and did some noodling around.

Enjoying the lake and sand in the park. New sensations!

Mmmmmm sandy toes.

KosmicKLR and Emile checking out the fisher's of men.

Emile with his East Texas halo the sun was shining, sky clear blue, and the air refreshing. Texas is so great because of all the different areas of the state to explore.

Long Live Long Leaf Pine!
