I am excited!

A few of you may know I have been working on and off (more off than on), on a 750SF2 Laverda for a couple of years.
Well, it still ain't finished but it ran for the first time in about 25 years tonite
Still have to seal the tank, if the bloody weather will warm up a little, then a few minor bits and pieces and I may be able to ride!

It's a 74. A few parts are hard to source but Wolfgang Haerter out of Canada has pretty much everything, either new or used. He is also a good source of technical info, as is Scott Potter, the Laverda Guru here in the Hill country.

Looking nice Zorba! Looks more like a bike than when I saw it in your garage over a year ago

Re: I am excited!

I'd love a Jota too, but it would have to come in project form. Funny how you get near the end of a project and start to think about the next one. Just missed a 1969 Commando project but I'm sure something will come up.

Speed has never been my strong point on projects....am surprised it's this far, as I got married, inherited a couple more kids and and moved house since I last saw you

How's that (future classic) Rex going?

Re: I am excited!

Fantastic Zorba !
About a month after getting the RS back on the road I took it on a 2,500 mile trip, And that was after a 1,000 mile weekend shake down ride. So where you planning to ride the Laverda ? I will admit the RS was only off the road six months.
I am looking forward to seeing it on the road this year.
We need to start working up a Vintage ride to Talamina ! Nothing like a bunch of vintage iron loaded down with camping gear and headed to the hill to make an adventure.

It's running great. Close to 30k miles now. Only complaint I have is it eats tires for breakfast! Due for a new set, AGAIN

Re: I am excited!

I followed a Laverda down Sonora Pass in California one afternoon years ago. A buddy of mine (he was a Brit too - what's with you Brits and Laverdas anyway?) was riding it and we were clipping along at a great pace. What a beautiful howl that triple made.

Hope you get it back on the road soon!

Re: I am excited!

Dunno about Brits and Laverda's. Probably to do with the Slater Bros importers creating the Jota spec. I know back in the late 70's when I started riding, I couldn't afford one but Laverdas, Ducatis and Guzzis were the bikes to have! Had to make do with wobbly Kawasakis.

Anyway, she's ready for a shake down ride..........and I have a line on a Ducati 350 single for the next project

I'll get to that eventually, but am a little technically challenged. Won't actually rev that much as it had new rings so a little gentle running in is required first
