Re: Heat paint .

I took it for a spin to heat and cure the paint .When it cooled i wiped
it over with a rag and it came up a semi gloss .Looks better than in the pic .
The tiny heat shield my get some carbon so it doesnt look like i forgot to mask it up .

Re: Heat paint .

Heat paint doesnt stick to stainless unless you use a primer .This enabled
me to spray it and remove if i didnt like it .(steel wool , easy).
My heal was rubbing the paint off the link pipe so i primered that and resprayed .The rest i didnt bother .
I'll leave it and see how i like it in a week or so .

Thats a cool looking muffler hanger bracket...can you share some details on it ? also these heat shields by Leo Vince look like they would work to protect your pipe ...work of art...brilliant transformation...looking good , cheers

Re: Heat paint .

Its just a piece of 3mm alloy i bent up and covered in carbon . Compared to
covering this shape for someone the bracket was easy.
(track bike )

i actually thought the hanger bracket looked a bit big for the stubby exhaust so i made a smaller one .

Re: Heat paint .

Wow , that carbon fiber look is cool ...what is the product and how do you apply it ? is that just vinyl tape and heat gun ? seems it would be hard to do complex curves...wrinkles and bubbles ? nice work

Re: Heat paint .

He ordered the product in carbon fiber but they only did it in fiberglass (not thats that bad ).I work in the surf industry so i know how to work with f\glass
(im a glazier is well ).Carbon is just the same so covered it for him .Its not
Epoxy so no great strength or lightness but most importantly it looks good The joins i'm quite proud off ,the wing bit was done in 3 pieces . Its not hard ,like most things ,there's tricks to make it easier .At the moment im
covering my sprocket cover (again ) because i've got the join thing worked out .(i hope) Carbon fiber is stiff and doesnt bend well , makes
bubbles when you look away stuffing the hole job .

Re: Heat paint .

Wow , that sprocket cover looks fantastic ! Yeah I've been buying and riding surfboards for 35 years and have always wanted to try my hand at shaping my own board ,but the glassing and sanding seems like its best to leave that job to the experts...
