Some bling for the RealBigMan

Lollypop candy red. I wish I could figure out this picture taking thing. The pictures don't even come close to capturing the real thing. My wife walked through the shop this afternoon and they attracted her from across the room. She couldn't stop looking at them.

Re: Some bling for the RealBigMan

I'm very glad they turned out like you'd hoped. Tomorrow is black Friday in the shop so I'll get your remaining parts all finished in black and post further pictures for you.

Some of the stuff fought me pretty good. Some aluminum parts will offgas as they are heated. I wound up stripping and redoing a few of them to get what you see. They look pretty good. And, no worries, the powder is completely available so down the road any further jobs will be easy to match.

Re: Some bling for the RealBigMan

That is so purty. I'm so boring, the only color I'd ever get anything powdercoated would likely be black.

The blue thing is a turbocharger compressor housing off a hot rod diesel pickup. One of my customers is www.RideOnAdv.com. He builds adventure bike parts and does diesel high performance work.

Kinda digging that red.
Worked on a new Harley Sporty that was Candy Apply Red with gold metal flake and the paint POPPED in the sun.

Have you ever been able to do any kind of flake in the powder coat color?

Tom,

That's a pretty straightforward deal. A lot of powders have flake in them to start with, or lacking that, there are a lot of clearcoats with flake in them that you can put over the top of any basecoat.

Holy cow! How many bikes are you rebuilding Marko? No wonder you don't have time to get off that sandbar anymore. Make sure you update this thread later with photos after you reassemble, inquiring minds want to know.
