Castell General Store serves steaks on Sunday from 11am to 2 or 3pm....but they don't have petro.

Llano is only about 18 to 23 miles from Castell and there is Coopers BBQ and plenty of petro in Llano.....So we will eat at Coopers BBQ in Llano then back track.

For the most part, here is the morning ride......
Thanks. I'll put this in the GPS and post up by Saturday afternoon with a confirmation.

Re: HONDA XR650L OWNER'S SIGN IN

On a sad note, most of you who know me knew Shadow the Dog. Shadow passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon here at the ranch. She was 15yrs old and she died of natural causes. We were inseparable. Shadow was loved and will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace my beloved Shadow.

Re: HONDA XR650L OWNER'S SIGN IN

Dang, R.....I'm sorry for your loss. I remember her nosing around while you were working your magic on my XR carb. I hope you find some solace in this:

Quote:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Re: HONDA XR650L OWNER'S SIGN IN

R , very sorry about your loss ,

Been in them shoes 7 different times with my own dogs .

Here's a good read for ya, and anybody else here that can relate .

I've cried a many a tear in the past from this very same situation .

Enjoy .

The Power of the Dog
by
Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie--
Perfect passsion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart to a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find--it's your own affair--
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-term loan is as bad as a long--
So why in--Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Re: HONDA XR650L OWNER'S SIGN IN

Wow, thank you friends! Hancock suggested that I mention Shadow here on the phone yesterday and I'm glad I did, your comments are very much appreciated. Shadow was a rescue, I found her at about 5 weeks old in a filthy, flea, mange and feces infested apartment in Houston. She was so covered in mange that I didn't even know what color she was because she didn't have any fur. She was one of 5 puppies, I just reached down and grabbed one, and that one became Shadow the Dog. I still wish to this day I could have grabbed them all but unfortunately at the time it was impossible for me to do so. After numerous Sarcoptic mange dips at the vet and lots of love she grew up into a healthy, vibrant and outstandingly loyal companion. And one heck of a varmit dog I might add.

Shadow got her name from two little girls I knew when she was a puppy, they called her my shadow because of how she would follow me around like my shadow. She needed no leash nor even a fenced yard, she would never leave my side. According to the vet this is not uncommon with rescues as you become their psychological and nutritional 'savior' so to speak. You become their world! And they become yours.

I would like to apologize for taking this thread so far off topic but your replies mean the world to me and again I thank you all.
Sincerely,
Rman
