Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration

Now that I have my tip over protection color matched, I can't begin to explain how much I want to do my rims! But it'll have to wait until I have a 2nd bike or a reason to be off mine for an extended period. I daily commute.... but DANG does Kevin do awesome work!

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration

Are you in Spring? I am looking to get some items powder coated, polished and ceramic coated (different parts for each...) and was interested in price for polishing. And, if you are in Spring, Texas then it would be an easy trip for me to drop the parts off.

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration

Kinda of a strange question, but can you do a black chrome on gun parts, namely the receiver and barrel? I was going for a deep S&W blue, but black would be fine.

Not a problem. What do you charge for polishing?

I wish I could, but I can't legally do it. You have to be registered firearm refinisher to do that work.

I do very little polishing nowadays that isn't in conjunction with prepping for powdercoating. What do you have in mind ?

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration

For my CB750 I have 2 hubs and associated parts (rear drum), fork lowers (unless I powdercoat), and a few engine parts.
For my Puch I have a front and rear drum.

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration

I think that's polishing beyond what I'd be comfortable with. My set up is just slightly better than typical home garage stuff and my skills are just good enough to polish small things in conjunction with powdercoating them part as a whole. I mainly do raised fins and logos and such like that.

Re: Ayers Garage - Powder coating, ceramic coating, restoration

No problem. I was planning on getting the home polishing kit and using this as an excuse to get out of the house and into the garage.

Triumph has a color called "Scorched Yellow". Do you have (or can you get) powder that would be a match for it? I've got a couple small parts I think I'd like to get matched--heel guards and radiator shrouds.

I've also got an exhaust I'd like to get ceramic coated black. Just need to teach a couple more BRCs to have the cash.

I haven't seen him on any of the boards in a couple of months. Saw him on 820 one morning last week, kinda hard to talk there though. I did notice the business logos and all that were once on his vehicle were gone.

Kev did some fantastic work for me on my XR650R build, top notch. Maybe he needed some time to de-compress, and take stock of where things were going. Awesome guy who treated me real well!

Kevin was doing all types of parts for us until one day about two months ago. I got a text that said he had been excepted to some school and he was leaving town and cant do any more powder coating. We had parts to be coated and he bailed out on the job. If I remember correctly the school was like six months long. I think he said he will be back about April ??? That was the last I ever heard from him.... He did nice work.

He stopped doing the banner when his last term expired and was just doing the subforum. His current 6 month subforum term expires in Feb of 2013. He has not been on the site since Sept. I have not heard anything from him regarding the business. I would hate to see him end his business. It seemed like he was getting quite a bit from TWT members, all of whom seemed very happy with his work.
