New-to-me 2010 Harley 48

For about a year now I have been thinking of adding a V-twin to the stable, and then Harley made my decision easy. I wanted something old-looking, but not old, it had to be fuel injected. I am sick of carburetors and cannot seem find anyone to help (except my mechanic, but he is not free). The previous owner already took care of the pesky chrome pipes and uncomfortable seat. Eventually I will ditch the 2-2 exhaust and get something geared more for performance than noise.

I give you, The 48!

This is a great looking bike. I've always been a fan of the Sportster. How's it ride? That fatty on the front really looks great. How does it effect turn in?

I'm with you on the aesthetics of the older styling without the woes of maintaining vintage iron. Is why I went with a modern retro and could not be happier. Here's to many hours of happy riding.

Very nice! Looks similar to my old XLCH except MUCH better and I know it's far better in every respect. I sure need to own another Sportster before I get too much older.

I love the elemental look of the 48s and some of the single seat Irons. Nothing you don't need, just a motorcycle.

That thing looks like fun. I like the blacked out pipes, and the simplicity with style approach.

Re: New-to-me 2010 Harley 48

I am thinking about making some clip-on beach-style bars. I have found nothing like this in my searching, only straight clip-ons. I guess I either need to make friends with someone who has a mandrel tubing bender or find a fab shop that will not kill me on price. I may try drag bars first.

Hopefully I will make it out to a meet and eat soon, or maybe a pie run (mmmmmmm, pie!).

Harley, harley black and chrome; ride em out and push em home!!

Juussttt kidding. Nice scoot! I like the 48's but the gas tank is too small for my tastes. Needs more go go juice! Will probably snag me a superglide in another few years.

I was looking at the Dyna line, but I am not a big guy and feel stupid sitting something that big. I was told that the 2.2ish gallon tank hold more than enough fuel to the that bike to the next gas station.

Well, I'm just the exact opposite of you. I'm a pretty big guy, and in fact... I'd probably make a superglide look small, so could you imagine what I'd look like on a sportster?

About the gas tank, I'm like to ride... a lot... knee's in the breeze etc... so I like to go at least over 100 miles on 1 tank before I consider pulling over for fuel. Now, that sportster should at least get around 60mpg highway, so I guess that 2.2 gal tank isn't so bad after all.

Re: New-to-me 2010 Harley 48

I am considering getting a 3.3 gallon tank from the Nightster or possibly something custom. I like this guy's bars and tank (and whole bike!). I will also invest in one of those small fuel tanks that is carried in a swing arm bag.
